The Ibis London Excel Docklands
Hi guys, me and some friends were thinking of staying in the Ibis in October as we have never stayed onsite yet and we really want to as it would be so convenient, the Ibis is the only one that is in our price range(just), and we were just wondering has anyone stayed there and could you tell us if it's any good? we noticed it's only a 2 star hotel and we couldn't figure out the reason for it, any help would be really appreciated as we want to book it asap but wanted advice first if possible :3

I've been staying at the Ibis hotel for Expo for 2-3 years now. It's good. It's a budget hotel, but all I use it for is somewhere to sleep and dump my stuff. And because it's right across the road from the ExCel centre, if you buy something big and/or heavy you can just drop it off in the room instead of having to haul it around all day.

The beds are really comfy and I've always found the staff helpful when I've had problems. They've also got an ironing room on the 2nd and 6th floor, which can be handy.

But I would personally say that I don't find the breakfast worth the money. There's a convenience shop right across the road, open from 7am - 11pm, where I get all my food.

Thank you so much, that's really helpful we were expecting the breakfast to not be that great xD so do you get a shower or a bath or does it depend on the room?

Every room should come with an en-suite bathroom, which has a toilet, a sink and a shower.

They also provide a hair-drier in each room.

They also advertise free Wi-Fi, but I think it's only for 24 hours so I'd be aware of that as well.

No problem, and I'm always open to more questions if you have any. It's definitely a really convenient place to stay.

2 stars is pretty generous!
I certainly wouldn't stay there again after what happened back in October 2013!!!

I'm one of these people who likes to try and save their money till sunday to buy stuff so I kept all my money in the hotel room, Not to mention I keep my food and drink money in there as well just for the fact it's more convenient than trying to find a place in my costume to stuff money down!

Anyway on saturday I did my usual, Get ready and move my stuff out the way so the cleaners can't mess my stuff up, and I remember I put the money under a pile of clothes in my oyster card holder out the way like i always did then headed out. Didn't think about it for the rest of the day.

Then when finally left the convention hall decided to go and fetch my money to get some food once was out of costume; Headed downstairs and over to the shop. And low behold £60 was missing! I about had a baby because that was my food money AND my spending money!

I ran back to the hotel to the reception and demand to speak to someone, The only other person in my room was the girl rooming with me who only went in when I went in (she didn't even know I had hid my money) and the cleaning maids!

The receptionist was rude and made out it was my fault and that I shouldn't leave money in the hotel room BARE IN MIND your paying not only for the hotel room but to also ensure your stuff is safe! They refused to give me the money back or anything! My friends tablets were all over the floor where the cleaners had knocked them off and some were under the bed and they hadn't even tried to pick them up!

Then we were almost thrown out our room because we had chosen the late checkout and the maid wasn't informed so she went into clean the room while we were in the middle of packing and let me just say, rude is a HUGE understatement! She was pointing to the clock and wouldn't let us explain that we had the late check out!

I wouldn't stay in the ibis again if it was the last place on earth! Worse place I've ever stayed at! If you're worried about hotel costs my biggest word of advice is get people to room with you. I'm staying in the premier inn behind the convention and for a weekend there between me and two friends it's £99 for each of us but if we can get another person to bunk with us the total for each of us will come to £75 each!

I'm staying at the Stratford premier inn, it's a couple of miles away from excel, but everything is there. You book now, it will cost you 195 pounds for 3 nights. I don't mind staying in an hotel that is a couple of miles from excel, as the prices there are a complete rip off
