Face Glue
Yo, for my next cosplay I'm dressing as a beardy old man. So I was wondering, what's the best adhesive to use on your face? Ideally without tearing your mouth off when trying to remove it.
Can anyone help me please?

spirit gum maybes?

You should ask Laura (sands) more as she used it to stick facial hair on when she did Hideyoshi, ive used it to stick elf ears and it is very strong!

Cool, thanks alot.
A friend of mine had a painful experiance with some super strong, double-sided tape once, I don't wanna go the same way. There was blood.

hi there!

you might want to investigate pros aide. it's fairly expensive, and you need to get the removal agent too, but it's adhesion rate is incredible, and it's the current theatrical/cinematic standard.

you're likely to have to buy it in 500 ml bottles, unless you can find somewhere that sells it rebottled. the 500 ml i bought recently from mouldlife cost me short of £50 after shipping.

jeez, i'm a hive of information lately ^^;;

I reccommend liquid latex. You paint it on and it tends to peel off very cleanly. Damn good stuff unless you're allergic to it!

latex is really not a great thing to put direct onto skin =x

it has a high alchohol content which will stripmine all the natural oils and moisture out of your tissue, and it adheres to hair very permanently. plus it has a large amount of ammonia in it. really not a great thing to be putting on your skin in a raw state ^^;;

[edit]

i should add, you -can- use latex, it does work, but it has a lot of problems which make it really not the best option for the price.

i'd still recomend pros aide, or a similar medical adhesive.

[edit 2]

here's a decent priced small quantity seller. remember you'll need both the adhesive and the remover, or it will be a pain to remove!

Spirit gum sounds like good news, though I need it for kitacon so I don't have time to order any. I'll see if I can get any in the crappy fancy dress shops around here.

If not a friend has some sock glue, maybe that'll do the trick.

*Edit* Got some spirit gum. Score one for the 'crappy fancy dress shop'.
