Hey

I am planning on going to May Expo, but we are stuck on which hotel to go for...what do people recommend?
Also a friend of mine wants to come and stay in a room, is there any hotels near that do single rooms as well as double ones??

Thanks guys need to find out asap to book ^_^

The Ibis is pretty good and cheap, and very close. I've stayed at the old Custom House too (I think it's an Ibis now?) which was nice enough, and right next to the station. I had to get a twin/double at the Ibis and a double at Custom House though as they didn't do single rooms .

Not sure how it'd work out for you, budget-wise, or if you'll be able to snag a room this close to the Expo, but I stayed in a double room at the Ramada last year. It's right next to the ExCel on the eastern side (the side without the steps and statue).

Might be worth a look if you can grab a room, though with its proximity, it'd be something of a long shot. Good luck!

That's a shame...I will be looking into different options and seeing what's still there ^_^

I'm afraid it's sold out...I am just trying to see what can be affordable but not too much out of the way as I will be in cosplay ¬.¬

Consider the Ibis Budget (formally etap) either in Barking or London City Airport. The brand isn't fantastic, in fact its barely basic, but due to it's lower class it's cheaper and less people are inclined to stay there. The LCA Ibis is about 10-20 walk or 10 minute DLR ride via Canning Town, however I believe you'll have more chance with Barking, it is further away, 20 minutes by DLR I believe, never stayed there only travelled through and didn't time it. They have a triple room option which gives you a double bed and a bunk. Best of luck.

There's a Travelodge on the other side of the Excel Centre. I stayed there about a year ago and wasn't too expensive as I recall. Also, they had full English breakfast for a fiver, which I can't knock at Expo time.

Best Full English around the Excel is at a café down by Custom House £5 for a loaded plate and a cuppa.

I'm gonna reiterate the Ibis Styles mentioned earlier as my mate managed to get 3 of us in there (1 in their own room and 2 in a double). Travel Supermarket have a deal and on Booking.com there's one for the Ibis closest to the ExCel

I'll be staying at this one. It was the cheapest I could find to stay at and its a newly built hotel too.

I see you're a YGO fan also. I'll be cosplaying Seto Kaiba there. xD

I learnt a big lesson has a first timer going to MCM, book well in advanced. Me and my mate were lucky we found the stratford premier inn next to the olympic stadium, for a good price. 268 pounds for 3 nights, but it works out 134 pounds each, with a breakfast buffet. For me, never go cheap on a hotel when going to london. The hotel is booked up, but for future like october etc, I recommend the stratford premier inn
