Showing Stomach in Cosplay
I have a query/question,

I've always wanted to cosplay a character that shows stomach, or wears a catsuit, but I don't exactly have flat stomach. In fact from from it. I'm always self-conscious about it and get very nervous in case someone points out that I don't like like X character or I'm 'too --- to wear that costume'.

Do any of you guys have opinions? Is there a limit? Is there not?

The only one who puts a limit on cosplay is yourself.
Others might be heartless saying your too fat to be X or Y but hey its just words and youll probably never see them again.

Myself I am fat yes. In fact today walking down the street someone yelled 'Your F**king fat arnt ya!' You don't need to be in cosplay to be called fat.

But hey xD Tis life humans are cruel. I'd rather do what I want and be who i want rather than shy away all my life. Life is too short so grab it by the horns and you cosplay the people in them stomach showing, cat suiting ness cosplays! *holds up beer* xD

if you want to wear a catsuit get some good underwear. If you wear the ones that pull you in it can make you feel a bit more confident and it smooths your figure.

If you want to show a bit of stomach there are techniques that can make you look slimmer, having higer waistband on shorts or skirts so you are showing your waist not stomach. Also you can use tanning to help. adding a little colour, you can even use make up to add definition if your good with make up.

Also the way you pose, hold you head high and you automatically stand taller and thus extend your figure.

personally it is up to you. If you feel confident then do it !

No way, I've seen your costumes and I wouldn't have called you fat. I know people will be people, but hey, you gotta have some self confidence, right? It's rather inspiring to hear you say this, you're one of my inspirations for cosplaying.

But I agree with what you're saying *Holds up coke because underage*

Its the little things as mentioned that does wonders for your confidence.

Im certainly not a size 12 myself but finally gathered the guts to do a dream cosplay for my last con. Being a bodysuit type costume I was pretty nervous while making it but thanks to slimming underwear and high heels I had absolutley no problems at all ^^

also simple tights are great for legs if they are on show.

For a costume that shows stomach, just add a few inches to the waistband or too just do what ever makes you confident.

If you feel comfortable then you shouldn't let other people stop you. People can make nasty comments but thats on them. I can't imagine there's anyone doesn't have confidence issues about some part of their body. If you're not comfortable there are all sorts of tricks you can use as well, like the right underwear.

I want to emphasise the thing about posing and careful costume construction being making a huge difference. Spend some time in your costume practicing posing/standing/walking in front of the mirror - it should also do wonders for your confidence. Remember that very few people have a flat stomach anyway
Ultimately, go for it and be confident I expectd a lot of nasty comments first time I had a bare stomach but everyon was really nice and aftr that first time of having to be brave it's gotten easier

I've done a couple of cosplays displaying my midriff. I don't have a good body or anything but it doesn't really bother me. It's all about confidence. There are always people telling you that you shouldn't do something, but if you want to make it then rock on.

I'm a size 16-18 and how flat my stomach is actually looking fluctuates a lot, I get a lot of body confidence issues and even though I really love wearing form fitting costumes sometimes I get really self-conscious about them.

But, I also happen to be a burlesque dancer, and when the clothes come off the only thing people tend to say is 'WOOOOO', and boy does that boost the confidence, and kind of reminds me that, hey, lots of different people find different things attractive, and it also helps me to remember that, if they don't like it? Who the fuck cares because I have a great time on stage.

Just like everybody else says, confidence is a big part of it and there's a lot of ways you can modify the costume and utilise tricks to help you feel more confident, if that's what you need.

If you want to rock the costume exactly the way it is? You do that, because cosplay is for you, not anybody else. You want to use every trick in the trade to look slimmer or feel happier in the costume? Well you do that too.

Ninety percent of the time, cosplayers aren't total dicks, it's unlikely anybody's going to say anything to your face, and if they do, they're kind of the ones who need to take a good long look at themselves and wonder why they need to fuck up anybody else's day.

tl;dr
what they said, you want that costume, you rock that costume, and don't let anybody tell you different.

I dont get it. If your self conscious about showing your tummy then why even think about it? I dont think you'd enjoy wearing it, surly?

If you go catsuit where a girdle I've got a real good one from Amazon.

I'd say if want to show your stomach then show it and to poop with anyone else.

Everyone is beautiful and cosplay enhances this, we are all a community we should be having fun not judging people.

Go get your stomach out and post some pictures so we can see

Only do it if you feel comfortable, nothing else matters.

I was too self loathing pre-baby.
Now that I've had a child and my stomach is saggy and pudgy, I want to go back in time and slap myself - there's so many tummy showing characters that I wish I did back then xD
