This Morning
Did anyone see This Morning?

They had a group of cosplayers on to talk about it a bit.

Personalllly, I didn't think it did cosplay much justice.
I wish they'd shown pictures of the actual characters so folk could really SEE the effort that had gone in.

Or if they'd spoken about making process or something.

(And covered more than just superheroes).

What are your thoughts?

And God said unto John, "Come fourth, and recieve eternal life".
But, John came fifth, and won a toaster.

I dint see it live but there segments of the interview her http://www.itv.com/thismorning#
From what I saw of it I don't agree I think there was a genuine interest by non cosplayers, not the poke the freak with a stick feel that this sort of thing has had before. But then I didn't see it all

From the segments on the website it looks pretty good. Obviously I'll need to see the whole thing on catch-up tomorrow, but seemed to be genuine interest. And while there were a few "erms" from the cosplayers, they all seemed friendly and "normal" and came across well.

EDIT: It was a ten(?) minute bit of filler. They covered the basics, and didn't dwell on the wierd or perverted image we get saddled with normally. Ideally it was enough to make a few people think "that was interesting, I want to learn more".

And it could have been a lot worse

I recorded it so I could skip through the ads etc. Imo they did a fairly good job; as you say it would have been nice to show the source material but at least they said who they were cosplaying. Don't think they went into too much detail because it probably isn't TM's audience sort of thing or time constraints.

I saw the full interview since a family member recorded it and I was honestly very impressed because it was so positive. The interviewers were really interested in it and looked to be having a lot of fun when they had a go at wearing the helmets as well. And Phil was even interested in the effort that had gone into a costume that was in the background of one of the cosplay photos that had been sent in. The only negative comments were 2 comments from the watchers at home and they were obviously included to show 2 sides of an opinion, but I felt that the interview itself definitely showed cosplay in a good light. I do agree however that it would have been a good idea to show reference pictures of the characters that were being cosplayed so that they could be appreciated further.

I didn't see it but my sister phoned up and told me about it.

She said she found it really interesting and thought it was amazing how hard people work on their costumes and things.

It made me happy as it showed my sister a lot. It's not something I really talk about to my family other than the basic, I'm working on a new cosplay so she was really intrigued to find out about all the work.

She really likes it. She'd never cosplay as she suffers from crones disease but now she wants to try all my wigs on.

Well it's been uploaded to Youtube now.

Not too bad. Seemed pretty friendly, no mocking in tone.
