Hi from an older cosplayer
Hello, I'm Sam from West Yorkshire, and I'm not quite a newbie I've been lurking around on and off for a few years but never got around to posting. I'm a closet cosplayer, I don't really have any friends who would join me. I also feel like I couldn't join a group because of my age (late 20's)I feel a little too old. But I love cosplay and would like to get involved in it more.

Honestly you don't need to worry about it.
Most of the people I cosplay with are in their 20s to early 30s.
You'll see many younger people around as well at the MCM Expos, but you'll usually find that it's mostly older people at actual conventions since they tend to have age requirements. So please don't feel put off joining in with any cosplay groups. Welcome to CI!

First all cosplayers are very friendly, they want to meet you and say hi, you will make friends and join in groups

For my 50th birthday i am going to cardiff film and comic con dressed as wonder woman. My wife and her friend will help get me ready I will be taking the train up and enjoy myself, meet up with friends and meet new people
Relax and enjoy

Another oldster here! I'll be 40 this year! :o

You're never too old to cosplay, but it can feel like that when you see all the teenagers running around at large events. Find yourself some older cosplayer (like the people who've posted here!) and you'll feel confident about cosplaying again in no time

I am also at Cardiff CC and adore Wonder Woman so please come and say Hello! I shall be Emma Frost on the Saturday =)

Personally i am in my mid 20`s, but am planning on continueing cosplay for many many years to come. My Bf is 35 and recently got into cosplay 2 years ago. Age isnt an issue, we are all doing what we love

Hi Samansa

I'm now 28 and i still love to cosplay and my mates who i go to cons with are younger than me and it doesn't really bother me.
You said how you don't have any friends who cosplay with you, well quite often, i've found when you come along to the various cons that's happening you meet people there and you become friends through that. If you couldn't make it to the London or midlands Expos you could always come to the Yorkshire con that's held in Doncaster (where I'm from) if that one is a little easier to get to then when you feel more confident try the bigger cons

hello! ditto to basically what everyone else here said...age should not be a restriction.

i totally understand some of the anxieties though. I was a member on this site long before actually cosplaying. I was concerned about my age (but mainly my size) but the cosplay community here is amazing and will be so supportive of what you're doing!

Ditto to what everyone said here - I'm 27 and love cosplaying! You can always find a character for your age as you get older, too!

Hello there, I only got into cosplay nearly a year ago and I'm 31 this year and have 7 costumes sorted for the coming year, there's no age limit and in fact some of the most amazing cosplays I've seen have come from older cosplayers, welcome!
