MCM Telford Masquerade Questions
I'm just wondering with the masquerade, before going on stage do you sit with other people while waiting and do people speak with one another? I'm worried I'll be sat backstage waiting for ages with no one to speak to xD

Also, I'm curious to like how it all goes? I'm in it and have watched some of it before but I don't think I have stayed until the end. Or any information you guys have about it would be super helpful!!

Thank you!!

depends how social you want to be, they will que you back stage and line you up in aa certain order. I can be really shy talking to people but everytime i have been in the parade i have always had fun conversations with the people around me.

Give it a go just start randomly talking to someone and you will find something in common

"i don't like your plan.....It sucks"

I've never done an MCM one, but when I've done masquerades before, I've always made new friends and had people to speak too! Debating whether to do it myself, but going as a character who isn't as well known and my cosplay not being *that* great, I'm leaning towards not doing it
It should be an awesome day x3

And now the weather...

I was in the Midlands Expo masquerade back in 2011 and what happened was you basically wait around backstage then at a certain time they put you in the order you will be called out. Very simple

As you can be waiting around for a while having conversations backstage is a very normal part of the masquerade, particularly in the que. Experiences vary from person to person so you may get first-timers asking the more experienced masqueraders for assistance (like tips) and its very natural to be nervous in this setting so its a good way to calm down.

A good way to start a conversation in line for the person in front or the back of you something like 'I love what you did with this' or 'Wow! You used *insert fabric type here* works wonders. Talking about cosplay experiences is great too!

Thank you for the advice guys!! I'm also wondering how long should my walk on music be? I've put it as 25 seconds but do you think that's long enough to show off the costume?

I hope I am by you in the line haha! We can just chat forever

I've done a masquerade before, you just wait quietly in line or you can chat with the rest of the cosplayers around you. I didn't know anyone in the group but still found things to chat about. It really does depend how social you want to be. I found talking calmed my nerves.

Aaah okay! Thank you!!

I thought I was meant to get an email about the times to be judged and such but I don't think that's the case haha! Hope it all goes to plan on the day

Pre-judging is usually about 11-1pm, and they'll ask you to come back for the performance at about 3pm; if they don't sent out an email, just turn up at the cosplay desk when you arrive that morning to check your music, and confirm arrangements

EDIT: You're only needed for about ten minutes in that pre-judging slot, then you're free as a bird again, before the performance in the afternoon~

25secs is too short, just submit a full length music track and they will fade it out when you walk offstage. Send it to or bring it on usb on the day and they can just update it

I got an email about that haha! Send a 45 second clip of the song I want to play so I have enough time on stage for it
