Why is May expo always during the exam period?
Seriously, it annoys me every year because I have to miss it because its always in the middle of all of my exams. Does anyone else have this problem?
Also are there any cons later to go to instead? I was thinking of going to the film and comic con in July.

From what I can tell with London expo's it normally runs during the half term weekend of schools

They've always run the London shows on the last weekends of May and October. It don't think it's really been a half term thing. It's just the way it's been done.

I know it ties in with the half term but it's just annoying as you can't focus on it like you can other times of the year xp

Why are your exams during the expo period? Ha.

It is bad timing, yeah, but it's a matter of priorities/being prepared in the long run. I managed to attend expo during almost all of my exam-taking years as I made the costumes in advance and studied in advance. The only time I've made an exception was my A Levels and that was because I really needed extra revision time.

There are plenty of years ahead of you in which you can attend expo, and not have exams (and think, the harder you study now - the better job you'll get, the better job you get the better costumes you can make ;D), so don't let it bother you so much

There's a list of upcoming events somewhere on the site. LFCC is a good idea, and great timing as it's usually right at the start of summer holidays!

I'm not organised enough to be able to do that. XD however ill have a go, thanks. I am doing my A levels so I think I will go to LFCC instead c:

I find that other cons such as kitacon are more inconvenient in regards to exams, hand ins and such, expo tends to fall in a half term so it's pretty easy to work aaround. It would be nicer if it was later (june/july) but then it just gets too hot to cosplay successfully!

It's definitely inconvenient for me. For my GCSEs/A-levels I didn't give a damn and just went because the exams weren't that bad anyway. But when I started University I just stopped going because of priorities, I really could not spare the time because I have a routine to stick to.

I tend to go to Japan Expo in Paris instead because it's straight after exams and it works out to be roughly the same price! About £60-70 return travel and £130 hotel for 5 nights, I think that kind of deal is better than London Expo and I prefer it. Just the walk from the hotel to the convention centre that can be a bit of a pain.

The only extra cost is a passport if you don't have one. And you do sorta need a designated about of money to bring due to being Euros. But it really helps with budgeting!
