Mid-Riff cosplay questions.
Okay...So, this question has been bugging me for a while.
A reoccurring cosplay problem I keep having is, a lot of characters I wanna cosplay usually have an exposed mid-riff, but I don't feel as if I has the confidence to expose my stomach...Would it be okay to cosplay that character, but without the cropped part? For example, I really wanna cosplay Yang from RWBY, so would I be able to get away with wearing a sleeveless top instead of a crop? Thanks!

I'd say go for it. Plenty of people lengthen skirts and such (I know I do). If you're not comfortable in the cosplay, how can you enjoy wearing it?

Yes! If you want to change something so you will feel more comfortable, then go for it!

The great thing about cosplay is that there are no rules, you can adjust and change a costume however you want, nothing has to be set in stone,

Something has just occured to me:

Have you considered adding a fabric strip in a fleshtone colour between where the cropped-top ends and your waistband?

It might not look as good as adjusting the costume to what you are happy to wear, but it's an option if you want more faithfulness to the original design.

Yes, it would be ok.

Another alternative might be to wear a flesh coloured body underneath? Those magic underwear type body things that are basically a bra attached to a leotard can be great, as besides providing coverage and giving a barely noticeable flesh look underneath (unlike sewing a flesh panel, which may vary in look depending on how it's made), they also smooth out any offending tummy fat.

Although in answer to your question, of course you can alter the costume to your preferences! There are no rules when it comes to making a costume you must feel comfortable wearing!

(I've actually had the same thoughts about cosplaying as Yang!) When I think of Yang off the top of my head, I don't actually recall her having an exposed midriff - so you should be just fine having a longer top/jacket~!
