I was in the data processing department for N-power then I got assistant floor manager promotion thing. After 6 months of that I pretty much wanted to kill my soul so I quit to go around europe for 8 months with my band *and bands friends and family...about 25 people actuyally* in which I did ALOT of not very well paid bar work in berlin and paris. And if were going for commision work I was commissioned for a shop front and pannels for a goth shop in london.

Im not working on getting a saturday job to pay for college and stuffs ^^

Oh my goodness! I just noticed that a shocking amount of my colleagues are on this website... For I too work at GAME! For one day a week... I'm studying for my Masters in Illustration and that takes up most of my time!

...GAME girls unite! I suggest we form our own private branch of GAME on some type of flying landmass and sail it around the country in a steampunk fashion!

02 Apr 2009 - 18:3912416
^ I'd shop there.

I'm currently at Uni, supposedly studying Aerospace Engineering, in my final year though so just need to hold out...

At the moment I'm part way down a path into a Games Journalism career, however I may have to work in Engineering after Uni as all I have is freelance. Which I really can't support myself with to be honest.

Can we cosplay as game characters for our uniform? XD

Leonie... Yes! Yes, and thrice yes!

Even though our GAME uniforms do have a sort of... Star Trek Deep Space Nine feel about them already...

Not complaining.

Blinking heck, are you all forming a conspiracy?! Too many videogame assistants.

Back in my day we were all EA biatches and wore fifa/harry potter/need4speed etc that were either designed for v.v.v.large people or really skinny people. Needless to say I always had the best loyalty rate when I wore them....

But yes we shall fly round selling good games that are worthy of our hard earned cash. And burn all those stupid 'girls' games (ponies/makeup/etc!)

I draw railways

Actually - I lie.
I am currently drawing the signals that tell the trains when to stop and when to go.

But please don't blame me if they go wrong!
Please! *whimpers*

I have a mass collection of promo t-shirts. Today had a new addition- DSi themed! I think my fav has to be my bright green one to promote the new Lite colours. Although the Assassins Creed one had the addition of a hood... lol

Hell yeah I'm cool!

HA HA! Oh dear, those GAME promotional tshirts were a lark. I remember the hood on the Assassin's Creed t-shirt was so small it made me look like I was trapped in a funnel.

I'm still jealously guarding my 'greatest games' (Phoenix Wright!) lanyard, refusing to yield and go back to the boring old plain sales assistant one!

Everybody should shop in our Steampunk flying GAME!

I was always quite good at dodging the promotional t-shirts.... I think it was just because my boss knew if he asked me to wear it I wouldn't. Out right.

So I just got to wear a jersey.

Ah... GAME. I have fond memories of it, but not of the customers. The guys I worked with were amazing (except my deputy manager, who was just an arse). I used to hide out back doing the delivery everyday.
The stock room was my Kingdom. It was perfectly organised, and I knew where everything was. x)

I held onto mine for quite a while until my manager made me change it lol Mine simply said "Final Fantasy". I cheated and picked an entire series XD (can just about see it in the above photo!)

Silver- I love doing delivery, charts & marketing but I seem to get shoved on the till a lot lately grrr. I am the stores neat freak also.
And yeah always gotta love the customers! The worst are the abusive and the smelly.

High Five Silver! Customers are there to be avoided!

I had a good one the other day. A woman came up and asked, quite plainly:

"Hello, do you wash games?"

(It transpired that said customer wanted me to repair her disc... There was no washing involved!)

I know all too well what it's like with selling games.

I work for Argos myself, and the hardest bit of it is due to games not being under the money back guarantee (cue the copy /return shin-dig) and then they moan about it being christmas etc.

But yes... customers.. you get the one rare one who has no problems with working with the staff to get the problem resolved, and the rest just treat you like like something you'd step in whilst walking the street.

Although, we do get through a fair bit of cardboard in there so i'm never short if i want some for a cosplay!

I'm a sales assistant/supervisor in training for CeX =)

You haven't dealt with truly horrid customers until you've worked in the second-hand sector, believe me. We get some... *ahem* rather interesting folk arriving to sell their 'collections' of brand new games/DVDs/phones >.>

On the upside though, most of the people I work with are awesome, and I get the novelty of buying anything I like and taking it back for a full refund in 2 weeks - means I get to road test everything 8D

I never got to wear any promotional t'shirts when I worked at Game (I was there in 1999). I did get to keep the Soulcalibur promotional standee.

I would so wanna ride on the flying landmass Game. Sounds fun.

I did get some crazies coming into Game. None will ever beat the worse kind of peeps who came into the cinema when I worked at one for a year. We had full scale fights in the foyer.

Ha ha! Everyone has worked at GAME! It's so funny. Staff discount for everyone!

Landmass GAME will be a reality.

I spend a lot of time idling in our shop's stockroom, and mostly I just tend to think about how much fun it would be if Dead Rising/Dawn of the Dead sort of came true, but in my shopping centre.

...Then I start planning means of defence against zombies...Making a barricade from heavy PS3s... And how I'd survive by tunneling under Baker's Oven and seizing the cakes. I could even leave a ''survivors diary'' in photographic form by employing the features of the new DSi!

I've just realised how insane this sounds... Look at what working at GAME has done to my mind! Ha ha! X

...I'd escape the ruins of GAME by fashioning a mighty Spartan laser from the piles of faulty Xbox 360s in the storeroom...

Possibly whilst saying the words...

"Time to thermally damage YOUR hardware!"

Ha ha...

Apologies.

*hangs head in shame*

And I assume your brave defence of the store will garner you a promotion to be a manager of any GAME store of your choosing, which ultimately leads to this steam punk floating game store staffed exclusively with girls.

Hot.
