spear making
now as a first time prop maker i really wanted to make a spear can anyone give me advice on if this will be too hard and if not where i can source tips/poles/feathers or any other good materials

there are lots of ways of making spear heads poles can be anything from wood to pvc piping and feathers ..well they are feathers lots of places ...all depends on the look and style your going for

well i was thinking of going as zhao yun or ma chao from dynasty warriors so i guess the feathers wouldnt have to be anything special all i can get easily but do you know of anywhere to get a good tip from ?

One of the best ways to get advice on cosplay forums, is to post a reference picture rather than assuming we know the character (or have the time to do a image search)

What you use though, depends on what you want from it, and your skills.

You could carve it from wood, polystyrene, or foam. (The last two would need sealing with something like PVA or liquid latex)

You could shape it from clay (including paperclay) or thermo-plastic.

You could make a mould from clay/plaster and cast it from resin.

Does it need to be tough? Light? Cheap? Easy to make? Realistic looking? Safe? Legally transortable?
