Help for an event at my school! Advice re:costume thanks
Hello all!

Its been WEEKS since i've been on here (you can thank the school summer holidays for that and me having no computer at home!)

so anyway... HI! hope everyone is well.

ladies...i'm looking at you for this one but i'm sure the boys can give some first class advice too.

i work in a high school and next friday the languages department have asked that staff dress up as someone from a different country. I *of course* quickly snapped up Japan.

Now, I haven't got anything appropriate cosplay-wise to wear. So I figured the easiest thing i could throw together is a Japanese 'street style' costume.

Now, I think i'll be able to put something pretty good together...but I want some advice on what you think are essentials.

Its next friday...and if i'm honest i'm hoping I don't have to shell out too much for stuff unless you really think i'd benefit from it.

I've started to make a list of things I already have...
kawaii accessories, astro boy handbag, furry star earmuffs, pink wig, cute little clips and a hat on a headband...loads of little things.

i don't know what would be good in the way of props, and what would be best as a base for the outfit. oh...and shoes.

just general advice for what would be most recognizably 'street style'...more so the kids (and staff) get it!

i know the nature of the style is to be unique and people do it soooo differently but i'm just looking for any help you can give!

THANKYOU! x

You have quite a lot of free reign with this, but I recommend the Harajuka design - http://youryoutopia.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/6-dokidoki-harajuku-2010-08-07-550.jpg

You have a lot of the brightly colourful girlie stuff, and Harajuka station has a "rule" that you must wear bright colours on a certain day (I think it's monday).

ah! the harajuke style is the sort of thing i'd been looking at.

i agree about their being such free reign. i just wondered if there were any staple things one would need. but thats great thankyou
