A weird cape thing

I'm not sure how well you can see it in this picture (there are a few better ones in my profile) but I'm a little concerned about to make the cape (well it's the best way I think to describe it). At the front it looks like it is held there by a weight. This is the part that worries me. It looks like leather but the only thing that seems to be available near to me is leatherette, which is probably too thin. The stain on the holes at the front will probably cause it to tear if it isn't strong enough.

What can I use for it? Or would there be a good method of reinforcing it if I had to use leatherette.

I'd suggest suede or suedette it should give you the look your after, I'd suggest attaching it to the black top underneath though, as it wont stay put otherwise (use popper if you don't want to make it permanent!

You might want to consider using a wire along the edges, then you can bend it so it looks like it's blowing in the wind. It looks lighter underneath, so it's probably lined, so the wire will be completely hidden.

I'd agree with attaching it to the top (along the seam between front and back is probably best and won't run any risk of tearing).

I second that! I personally use garden wire is it's heavy enough the stay in shape without weighing you down, something slightly lighter might be better for you though.

To homebase...!
