Kryten Costume, work in progress
Well, I am almost finished on putting the head together, just got the ears and mouth to do, then, I have to resin the exterior, fibre glass the interior, sand and smooth it, paint it with primer, then, paint with base color and then detail it.

So it fits on my head, I plan on hinging the back plate and having magnets inlaid in foam around the edge so it fits snug.

Going for solid rather than (for example) latex?

Will it flex enough to let you get out of it in an emergency?

EDIT: It does look impressive so far though

The back plate will be hinged allowing for easy access and removal if required, attached by magnets inset into EVA foam, I have it all planned out in my head.

I have done the ears now and nearly finished the nose section, when done I shall post updated images.

I have decided to go for a card stock chest piece as foam would be harder to work with in my opinion.

I will make the chest from card stock and resin and coat it with filler the same as what I have seen on youtube for a typical ironman costume.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

I am now working on the chest and tomorrow I shall be getting the resin/fibreglass for the head, so, can make a start on that.

I shall post more pictures as I progress.

I am going to have to redo the head, not please about that.

My mistake was following the tutorials for an Iron Man helmet, because that is a metal helmet whereas Kryten is flesh, it should be supple and lightweight, so, putting fibreglass and bodyfiller inside and outside, not the wisest move.

My plan now is to redo the head and just coat it with epoxy resin to make it strong, hopefully this should do the trick.

Not sure whether to fibreglass the body part though, I was thinking about possibly glueing foam to the pep parts.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to post them on here, thanks.

Well, finished the head (again) and this time I shall just resin coat it then reinforce it with foam at various points so it fits snug to my head.

Here it is -

and here is the chest section -

All I need to do now is resin them and paint them, then I have the pants to do and the arm and leg pads, then, I am done, I will post more pics when I have done more.

Just a thought, take the heavy resin/fiberglass/filler version of the head and cast it plaster in 2 parts (front and back) then slush cast a latex mask out of it? It would be a lot lighter and more flexible and more like the "real" Kryton,

There are a few latex mask tutorials about, I'd fInd one and post it later.

Thanks for the advice, but, there is no way I am going to make a Latex Head, I prefer to stick with the card stock and resin method, with latex I have no experience and I am not the most artistic person and tend to mess things up easily.

At least with the card stock method, I can be pretty sure it turns out how I want it.

Thanks again though.
