[Forum Game] surviving the apocalypse
So with Aya Apocalypse on the horizon I figured, why not get into the post-apoc spirit and get a game on the go! you don't need a lot to play, just your own mind and knowledge of your surroundings.

How to Play:

I will post a scenario of a type of apocalypse and all you need to do is explain how you wold survive... REALTIME.

This means you can't just say: "Ahh zombie apocalypse, I'll stand on my roof with a shotgun and shoot em!" my reply would be A)do you have access to the roof, B)do you have a shotgun, C)do you have enough bullets, D)how would you eat/Drink? etc etc...

If you are planning to meet with medics/mechanics etc, these need to be people you ACTUALLY KNOW, if you are going to hold up in a building you need to HAVE ACCESS to that building, if you are planning to use weapons/rope/water canisters, these need to be things you CURRENTLY OWN

Then I will question you on various bits of your plan and determine if you live or die... I will be brutal

SO

The First scenario

The Apocalypse has landed!!!
a massive EMP from a nearby collapsed sun has hit earth wiping out almost all technology, and pushing earth closer to the sun effectively scorching our planet and severely limiting resources.

All electric devices are dead, mobile phones, modern cars and THE INTERNET now cease to function, older cars (most pre 1990)are scarce but the only usable mode of transport unless you have access to a copper insulated military vehicle...

The world is in panic, with the majority of our services being automated and the gloss of all power means rioting has ravaged the UK once again

Safe havens can be found in military bases OR you can attempt to flee the country

what year DR650? (i'm assuming its a suzuki) some have electronic ignitions which would render them useless...

what's your plan from here?

94 electric start (EMP's only effect processors and resistors) so transistor radios will still work ad so will power stations because they are emp shielded also I live within walking distance of a TA supply base

Short term:
Get as much food as I can from my freezer into my cooler box.
Walk to my brother's top floor flat(about 5 minutes away) and see if he has that spare bicycle still.
Hold up in his flat for a few days and evaluate what the response is. Hopefully the army has shielded or pre-electronic kit and is setting up refuges.

Until some sort of order is restored, I'd probably think about starting a roof garden (the local hardware store is likely to be raided for food and weapons rather than gardening supplies), and settling in for a bit.

Ok, so your bike is good to go but you only have the fuel that is in the tank. Due to the rioting food is not easily accessible, hospitals are on lockdown and are dealing with major injuries only, all other power is out. Minor injury units have been set up in churches and community centres.

Your local TA base is not accessible to civilians, it is being used as a command centre for military personnel attempting to regain order, there is rioting at the gates and fences where people are desperate for help

What do you do?

You get to your brothers place, is he likely to be home on a Friday morning? If not, do you have a key? Is there a electric key fob access? If so this does not work and you need to find another way in, all gas has been shut off although water is still running for the time being, do you have access to soil and seeds? How will you protect your plants from the scorching sun?

A national state of emergency would mean that I would be called back up to rejoin the Royal Air Force

SO

I would get back to soldiering and peace keeping as best as possible

Depends on the time, but he works nearby and if disaster struck he'd be home like a shot to look after his cat. The doors are electronic, but can be manually overidden by a regular key (which I have a copy of).

Soil comes from the flowerbeds, or the allotments (about 30 metres away) which might have seeds. The aforementioned hardware store sells seeds too, and camping stoves if we're quick. We can set up mositure traps on the roof using clingfilm and any containers we have handy to get clean-ish water. Protecting plants would have to be done manually, even if that meant standing the clothes airer and some sheets over them during the midday sun.

All this is short term though. The priority is surviving the initial panic and riots until a national emergency plan kicks in (or local communities establish mob rule!)

nuclear power stations will still be operational because they are emp shielded remember (nuclear power make emps so it needs to be shielded anyway), at home I have a small forge and garden veg plot, my house has steel reinforced wall that act like a faraday cage (stops emp)and we have solar panels on the roof. I have medical training, and with my connections (army and police) I'd most likely be call up for riot control.
