Attaching a crest to a helmet
http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2012/067/7/f/greek_helmet_by_knotproficient-d4s6k5m.jpg

The link above should give some idea of what i'm talkign about. Basically i have a helmet and i want a crest attached to it similar to the one in the link. However for the life in me i can't figure out how to cut the walls of the cret so they stand up while also adhereing to the curve of my helmet.

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not quite sure which question you're asking, so I'll answer both!

If you are asking how to cut the crest base to the right shape, then you need to make the helmet first, then create a template from something easy to work with like card, and trim that until you get the right shape.

If you are asking how to make the crest stand up, then you need to make the crest support from something thick enough to glue, or you could stick supports onto the inside wall of the crest support.

Sorry i wasn't clear lol. I've made the helmet already, it's just trying to get the crest shape cut corectly lol

I just can't seem to get the shaping right at all.

Lay it sideways on a sheet of paper, and using a long pencil trace the shape of the curve.

Because the helmet is three-dimensional this will be tricky and the drawing will be rough. But it should be enough to cut out a very rough paper/card template that you can trim to get to the right shape, and then use that to cut the final material.
