Fabric for Sakura Card Captor outfit.
Hi! I'm just horrid at picking out fabrics, and I'm planning on making a Card Captor outfit (From the episode where she capture the thunder card).

The black dress is going to be simple fabric, something stretchy yet thick so it sticks out? Not sure what type of cotton/treatment I could use? I'm pretty decent at sewing, and I have a pattern set up for the dress. I'm just horrid at fabrics!

I was also thinking of doing the apron in a type of non-shiny rubber, since in the episode her whole outfit is meant to be made of rubber (though I don't think I'd be very comfortable in it all day!). Any suggestions for this? Matt looking rubber material that could be not TOO difficult to sew?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Btw I'll be making an underskirt for it too. Simple mesh would be ok? Or should I go for something silkier to add to the look? Or perhaps simply use a frilly silk on the ends of the mesh? (So many questions!)

My suggestion is to use vinyl, possibly 2-way or 4-way stretch depending on how fitted you want things, to emulate the look of rubber. You might go with matte, but it's very difficult to find matte vinyl in pink in my experience, especially stretch vinyl.

Unfortunately I'm not actually from the UK and joined this site so I could figure out where to find 4-way or 2-way stretch vinyl at all during my extended stay here... so I can't say where to order from (unless you want to pay a lot of money for shipping from the US)... but I'm still looking so I'll pop back in and share the information when/if I find it!

It might be easier to find a pink leatherette here and use some black shiny vinyl (easy to get hold of) for the black underskirt?

Regarding the frilly underskirt, it depends how much shape you want the costume to have, you can pick shapers up quite easily from dance related shops online. On top of that you'd probably want to put a light cotton petticoat with what ever pretty lace you want XD;

That's how I'd approach this costume anyway ^^;

I had a search on Ebay and this might be an option:

It's PVC/vinyl, and looks non-shiny from the photos?
