Blonde suggestions?
Hello my fellow cosplayers!

I just survived my first con EVER- spent 3 days dressed in 90F heat in full Victorian garb, including corset, wig, and 6 skirts. I lost 8lbs over the weekend! (the HVAC couldn't keep up with the almost 7000 folks in the hotel.)

I've decided my next cosplay must be suited for warmer temperatures (I'll save my victorian lady for the winter where she belongs- with SNOWMEN!)

Any suggestions that wouldn't involve a wig for me? The wig truly was my downfall. I have very long naturally blonde hair. I thought of the Mother of Dragons but I saw at least 5 of them over the weekend) Still considering it, but would also like something less overdone.

I am much more familiar with sci-fi/fantasy than with anime or comics, if that changes your suggestions any.

Thanks!

If you like Daenerys Targaryen (or her costume) then cosplay as her. Don't worry about what's popular or overplayed.

You will have more fun if you costume as a character you love(or love to hate), or a costume that appeals to you.

Just look through your DVD collection (or Netflix, or whatever), or comics, and find a character or a costume you like.

I beg of you, please don't become one of those people who posts bathroom selfies and asks "who do I look like?"

Its odd how you see different characters at different conventions; I saw plenty of Danaerys cosplays at LFCC, but at MCM Expo just over a month earlier, I didn't see a single one! Though since you prefer sci fi and fantasy to comics and manga, I doubt MCM would be your cup of tea anyway.

It's hard to recommend characters not knowing your specific tastes, but there's always Babydoll from Sucker Punch, Claire from Heroes (I recommend the blue cheerleader uniform, I cosplayed as her in the red one once and was mistaken for a beaten up High School Musical character), if you like video games there's Anya from Gears of War, you could design your own sci fi character, that way you just do what you want and what's most comfortable. You're going to be the best person do decide what character you want to do, I hope you find one you like

I'm awful at making suggestions, but the anime character database should be of use to you
http://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/

just input the hair color, length, age etc. that you want and it'll give you a huge list of characters with those specifications

I know what you mean about the heat, I wimped out of Cosplaying at LFCC because my costume required a corset, makeup, dance tights, wig, control underwear etc. and I knew I would melt if I tried

As for natural blonde SF/Fantasy suitable for warm temperatures, how about 6 or Starbuck from the new Battlestar Galactica ? hrm maybe a bit short, but if could do comic heroines then Super Girl, Black Canary or Miss Marvel all have long blonde hair

Good ideas! I thought of Babydoll but I couldn't remember the name of the movie. I saw an awesome Kara Thrace over the weekend but no Sixes.

No worries about me posting lame bathroom selfies- I like my privacy too much

I probably will build a Daenerys at some point, she's too awesome not to do. And an Eowyn, but I fear that will be another winter-only cosplay.

Whilst I think Pandora is right, if you like Danaerys you should cosplay her, I can think of a couple you could do. There's always Buffy, Olivia Dunham or how about a comic book character like Supergirl or Powergirl?
