Caulk
OK, so I have my base wig, I have my other wig that I'll be chopping up for wefts, and I have all the tutorials I can find that'll tell me roughly how to do what I need to do.

My question is, what's the best caulk for the job?

The stuff Katie Bair uses is Kwik Seal Tub Tile Adhesive but that's not a brand that's available in the UK. I went to Homebase over my lunch break and was pretty confused by the assorted different brands available (which were all very expensive, too). I ended up buying a tube of Bostik All-Purpose since it says it works on fabric and dries clear, but I have no idea if that's the right stuff to use. Will that be OK, or is there anything else that's closer to what what Katie uses?

I’m sure any glue-y stuff will work - the only caulk I’ve ever used was from a pound shop, so if that worked, anything will!

I didn’t like the caulk method much though, it does create quite a bulky weft. I suppose the advantage is not having to put in much effort, but there’s still the drying time to factor in. (hot glue is the messy, but fast-drying alternative). I prefer to sew wefts, I think they come out stronger, as well as neater. So if you can, try experimenting with sewing wefts, or the stitch witchery method.

Hahaha I went out and bought some caulk from b&q and ended up using bostik! As what angelphie said, caulk seemed a bit bulkier, since I already have a big head and need to add extra wefts to the wig i really wanted to keep it to a minimum. I also found caulk didn't feel as sticky, and as a first timer i was uncomfortable with that! Bostik has held up fine so far so if i were you I wouldn't bother getting caulk! Esp as the only caulk i could get my hands on were the ones that come in cartidges and it wouldn't be used for a second time any time soon so has since gone in the bin barely touched!

Thanks guys.

Considering what I need my wefts to do, I'm not that worried about bulk really (I've actually been worried about it all looking too thin). I have also been wondering if I could just save myself some hassle and snip the wefts directly out of my other wig, but I sat looking at it on my wig form last night, then got scared and gave up -_-

I'll get there one way or another ^_^
