Visual Novel lovers! ~
Hey There!
I'm Mistress! or The Devine Darkness!
I'm a huge Visual Novel lover and just wanted to know if anyone else plays them a lot too or if they want to have a chat about favourite characters/VNs with me! ~

I'm a big fan of..
- Magical Diary: Horse Hall
- Fatal Hearts
- Fading Hearts
- Frozen Essence
- Fantasia ROA Requiem of the Abyss
- Fantasia ROT Realm of Thanos
- School Festival

Apart from playing and being a big fan of VNs I also like to create them in small projects using Ren'py.
Never met another Ren'py users

I've played one arc of Tsukihime, the opening of Fate/Stay Night and all of Utawarerumono. Haven't heard of those other ones - would you recommend any one in particular of your list?

The only one I've played is a western VN that homages the Japanese style called "Don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story" which was an interesting tale, with some cool characters, and some nice twists along the way.

I like the Fate/Stay Night VN Artwork, but am yet to play it Hmm..I would probably recommend The Fatasia series, there free VN. The first VN in the series is ROT/Realm of Thanos

I'm a big fan of visual novel games but generally have to rely on walkthroughs people post online most of the time due to many only being released in Japan
Even so though, I've played Alistair++ (it's a free one online), the other Western one mentioned and another called Katawa Shoujo.

I just love Visual Novels I cant help but yet so involved in the story and characters XD I normaly play it all the way through once and then use the walkthroughs Lol! Yeah it sucks that a lot are only realised in Japan..I never can really use much of the english patchs either so I just stick to the english ones. Ooh I played Alisatir++ too. It was good. I found it hard to get any ending to begin with, so I used a walkthrough to get the proper endings. I've never played Katawa Shoujo. Would you recommend it?

I think Alistair++ was how I got into them actually so it always has a place in my heart
Katawa shoujo is pretty good and quite long - there are numerous paths. It's a dating one set in a boarding school for people with disabilities so quite different in that respect - gives you feels though! Really depends what kind of visual novel games you like though I guess?

Haha that's understandable!
My first Visual Novel was Fatal Hearts and Magical Diary: Horse Hall, so they got places in my hearts XD
It looks like a good VN is it a free one or a pay one? The only two VNs I brought were the two said above.
That's true, It does depend what kind of VN people like. I'm one for datable and fantasy VNs, but theres this one called The Loop which is more horror clown typed which isn't my cup of tea XD

It's quite a wade! I didn't get hugely far with it because there was just soooo much exposition initially, I just got a bit bored with it after a while. Utawarerumono was more interesting because it had Disgaea-style gameplay segments interspersed.

Ah I see! What was the storyline like to begin with? Ooh never heard of that one. The style sounds Interesting, I am defiantly going to have to check it out soon.

It just takes a long time for things to happen, really. I'd recommend watching the anime to get the storyline/general point of it in a much faster fashion, and then you can play the VN for extra info and the other arcs (the anime only covers Saber's). You can get the English patch for Utawarerumono here:

http://mirrormoon.org/projects/complete/utawarerumono/

I can't give you a link to download the actual game because you're supposed to buy it. The Tsukihime patches are also there too:

http://mirrormoon.org/projects/complete/tsukihime/

Fate Stay Night also has an English patch:

http://mirrormoon.org/projects/complete/fatestay-night/

And you can buy the Higurashi games (which I forgot to mention - they have gorgeous music and are creepy as hell):

I love VN's I've played a fair few now :S I generally play Japanese ones but with translating programme that runs next to it so it basically translates as it goes. It's not the best way to play I admit but I've tweaked mine so it's a lot closer. I'm also a massive Happoubi fan which will probably reflect in the list below:

Classy Cranberry's (though recently this has been crashing for some weird reason?)
Kanojo Kanojo Kanojo
Resort Boin
Bishoujo Mangekyou -Norowareshi Densetsu no Shoujo-
Bishoujo Mangekyou -Wasurenagusa to Eien no Shoujo-
Ren'ai Saimin ~ Tsun na Kanojo ga dereru Saimin ~
Saimin Seikatsu ~Kousoku Dakara Shikatanai!?~
Imouto Style
Kotowari ~Kimi no Kokoro no Koboreta Kakera~
Riajuu Saimin ~Real ga Juujitsu Suru Saimin Seikatsu Hajimemashita.~
Walkure Romanze: Shōjo Kishi Monogatari
Kawata Shojo-Eng
Discipline-Eng
Bible Black-Eng
Hatoful Boyfriend-Eng
Wanko to Kurasou-Eng

And I think that's it. Though most of these in the list are NSFW ^_^; And I'm always looking for new suggestions

Oooh thanks for the links! ~
I've only watched a couple of episodes from fate/stay night, I'll have to watch it more before I try the VN XD

I really like Higurashi can't wait to see what the VN is like. I think the Umeniko VN is simular styled since its from the same creators XD

Awesome List! ^^ Oooh I think my friend played the Bible Black VN. Its suppost to be very intresting with the whole demon/magic book. XD

I've played a few minutes of Hatoful boyfriend, but never got to contiune because my computer delted it off. DX I like the whole Pigion thing XD

I'd really suggest Magical Diary: Horse Hall, although you have to buy that one. VN's you dont need to pay for that I would recommend is the Fantasia series! The first game is Realm of Thanos/ROT XD

I'll second (third) Katawa Shoujo; very good to my mind. I'd also suggest looking at Ripples. It's not really a VN, more of a short cup of squee, but I believe there's a sequel being made.

Yeah Bible Black is good and you can get PG-13 rated version if the other stuff doesn't float your boat and you just want to play for story. I will definatly check out Magical Diary and the Fantasia series, they look cool

Oh I forgot about Hatoful Boyfriend (guilty pleasure of mine!) and Higurashi. Umineko counts then too I guess? I've played a few of those and despite from the wonky art, they're pretty good!
Wand of Fortune is another one I'm interested in but it's not in this country sadly.
