safety tips for this weekend
Ok just a safety warning for everyone. In light of todays events, the police in london will be extra twitchy around anything looking suspicious...

I won't go into details, but if you don't know, just do a quick news search... but the fact is, the police and armed guard around london are on high alert currently, so use some common sense this weekend

Cover anything that could conceivably look like a weapon up... bin bags, bubble wrap, whatever you want... if it still looks like it could be a weapon when wrapped up, get a holdall or something.

Guns and any bladed weapons especially. Take care and make sure they are extremely well covered... having a fun weekend at expo, and having 5 armed police shouting at you are two drastically different things.

Take care when travelling and just make sure you're not only being conscious of your props, but how they could look to an outsider or an overworked and over-caffeinated police officer... we don't want to hear horror stories of the police detonating bags of your carefully crafted foam swords after the weekend

This is a very important point to consider in lieu of recent events! Be careful carrying props out there everyone, I imagine the police will be quite jumpy. Don't give 'em a reason to be.

It's good advice in general, even without taking in to account recent events. I've known people to land in trouble carry LARP weapons not properly covered on the underground!

Am kind of glad my parents haven't heard about that incident yet... They probably wouldn't let me near London if they did!
Got to feel sorry for the police though. This weekend will most likely frazzle their nerves ;_;

Because of it, we've decided not to bring our swords to this weekends event - another plus is that we havent exactly finished them up but its better to be safe than sorry and not risk upsetting anyone.
