Fabric Colour Help Needed!
Hello everyone!

I'm in the middle of choosing fabric for my cosplay of Mio Naganohara from Nichijou however I'm really stuck with the colour of the bows on the uniform as I cannot find fabric that exactly match the colour! In some screenshots of the anime it looks red and in others it looks pink so I'm a bit suck with what colour to go with. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks

Unfortunately colour matching is the bane of all cosplayers lives and ultimately weather it's pink or red is only a decision you can make.

Though what I suggest is because it matches the lighter colour in the skirt whichever colour fabric you opt for the skirt use this as a guide for picking bow fabric. Also take the jacket fabric with you and see which looks better with it be it red or pink.

In all honesty though no-one will know your character like you do. People will recognize her weather you decide on pink or red it's just a case of finding something that looks aesthetically pleasing as whole as opposed to accuracy. There is a degree of artistic license with cosplay so pick fabrics you'd be happy in

Thank you very much for the help both of you!

After searching everywhere for fabric that looked as close as possible to the reference, I ended up going for a darkish blush pink for the bow and the bib and a more of a peach coloured fabric and a redish pink fabric for the skirt. I think it's the closest I am going to get with the matching the colour! I also have some red dye to dye some fabric just in case I don't think it looks right with the pink fabric.

Again thanks guys!

Oh colour matching. Why can't animators and fabric designers just work from the same 256 colour swatch?!

I have recently had to dye over a green hoodie with blue dye to get the colour I needed, and had excellent results with Dylon hand-wash dye (it's £2.99 a packet from Wilkos and does about 250g of fabric to full colour but I just needed a shade of blue so used the same amount on a 500g thick hoodie). Hope that helps if you need to dye!
