Vampire fangs ^.^
Okz so for the upcoming con I need fangs for my Alucard and Rip Von Winkle characters and being one of lifes great cheapskates I am not spending 12-15 pounds on scarecrow fangs that I get mixed signals about so i bought some pound tooth caps from the local joke shop, they look pretty much the same. Thing is the fixant sucks O_o and was wondering what else works?

Ive heard fixodent and dental shit like that works, is this true?

Any help apreciated ^.^ thanks

I use scarecrow fangs for my seras costume, and in my experience they are perfect. They matched my tooth tone exactly and looked great.

I used fixodent to keep them secure on me- maybe that will work for you?

Well, scarecrow fangs have like a moulding method to keep them on your teeth, so they fit you exactly. The fixodent then just makes sure that they don't wiggle off- it's not really an adheasive, more of an extra security thing.

It's pretty horrible stuff as it's an adheasive- so if you get it on your gums and not just on the teeth it kinda glues to your mouth and feels icky. It goes away eventually though.

So you'd probably want to be able to mould them to your teeth in some way. I have no idea what you can actually use to do that really, mainly because you don't really want a lot of things that could work to go in your mouth.

And alternative option is that you make a mould of your teeth using alginate, cast your teeth in plaster and make fimo teeth over the cast, and that will get you an exact fit, but that's going to be more expensive than the £15 scarecrow fangs. And buying a moulding agent that's safe to use in your mouth to make the cheap teeth wearable will also probably cost more than that.

Unless anyone else has a good idea then I'm stumped really.

I'm totally with Tab. I love my scarecrow fangs, they're surprisingly comfy and they have a really good natural tone so they look um, natural! I know this is isn't helpful but I didn't realise how much they had gone up! I bought 2 pairs less than a year ago and they were half the price they are now!

If you're insistent on trying out what you already have, I met up with Sephirayne today and coincidentally we did speak of vampire fangs and she told me that she doesn't like the molding kits and actually prefers to use nail glue! She did say that the only prob is that they really do stay in all day!!!! But if you think it's worth it then nail glue is only cheap!

There are lots of kinds of nail glue though, many of which I wouldn't put in my mouth.

I've known a lot of people to suggest the nail glue thing and I really can't stomach the idea.

I moulded some Scarecrow fangs when I first did Alucard and have worn them several times both for costume wear and just casually and they've never let me down.

Seriously, save and get some scarecrow fangs. I'd suggest the "subtle" ones. I originally thought they'd be too small, but they look perfect.

Mine are the subtle ones too- I love how they add just that hint of fang. I'm such a creepy seras.

They're harder for me to wear than most as I've got an underbite so I don't know if I'm the best person to tell you that but I love them. I talk with a bit of a lisp when I have them in, but that's because my upper row of teeth come down at the same level as my bottom row. So, when I've got fangs in, I can't touch my teeth together.

Everyone else I've know to wear them has no problem with them once they've had them in for a bit.

I'm the same as you sjbonner! I have a slight underbite and speak with a little bit of a lisp!

Am I the only person that thinks the moulding stuff tastes nice...?

I find that when I wear them I can bit down at the front of my mouth, but as they add a little bit of bulk to the back of my top teeth it means that my lower jaw can't quite sit in the place it usually does when I wear them. So my back few molars don't touch. Which after a day of wearing them feels really weird when they're out and you can clamp down again.

But word of advice- don't eat in them. You can't. Well, you can, but it feels wrong, you bite yourself and you can swallow a fang by mistake. Just carry around a tube of fixodent so when you want to eat you just take them out and then glue them back in again afterwards.
