Manga for younger readers?
So, the daughter is spreading her geeky wings and after hugely enjoying Card Captor Sakura (hat tip to Nixie - ta)has started expressing an interest in getting some japanese comics at expo to supplement her love of all things DC.

Now, even I'm aware that this is a potential minefield so grateful for any steer on the titles (if any) suitable for a fairly switched on eleven year old....

Sailor Moon is always a good one Other than that I'd probably suggest Di Gi Charat, Lucky star, Azumanga Daioh, or Chi's Sweet Home

Shugo Chara! is a super cute read! It's quite long though, but it's a nice on-going manga to collect. (Not that I've actually read it... I just watch the anime, but I hear they're fairly similar up until a point!)

Card Captor Sakura is good if you can track it down. I'm fond of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, which is aimed at a youngish audience, but it does have its darker moments. Fruits Basket is another good one. I enjoyed Soul Eater and Blue Exorcist but they may be edging more in to teen territory.

Angelic Layer would be suitable for younger readers and is by the same people who created Cardcaptor Sakura so that might be worth checking out.

I was going to suggest Fruits Basket as well so I'd have to second that.

Crikey!

Many thanks for the responses - that's quite a list of possibles!

We'll draw up a shopping list and see which ones we can find a volume one of at Expo. Once again, many thanks.

Ta
