The Great Styrofoam Sealing Puzzle!
Even though I've been scouring the internet for a little while for answers, I thought I'd ask this here as well, just to make doubly sure.

Now that I know that styrofoam - and, from the looks of it, just about everything with "foam" in the name! - needs sealing before any sort of painting goes on in order to stop the whole thing being consumed in a crater of melting, what are the good ways to go about it?

PVA glue (either neat or watered-down) is a brilliant multi-purpose sealer.

With something that porous, go for liquid latex. Go for one with a high solid content (60% min), put a thin coat on first, then after that's dried you can layer it on thick.

Probably better to just use another material, to be honest.
