OK my apologies In advance if this question should be posted elsewhere.

I'm hopefully going to Dragoncon this year. 'I've never been nor cosplayed before. As such , if I link this picture could anyone give a poor helpless noob Some Ideas on a character that I might look like or could get away making for the first time.

generic answer: everything
seriously though, anime, comics, gaming, manga etc (standard geeky things)
I'm a long-time martial artist So l guess something along those lines would be ideal!

ok, well, i guess i'm gesturing at something specific, some specific shows/books/games you like so we can maybe narrow it down to some characters that might suit you!

Are you cosplaying because you want to, or because you feel you ought to? There's no law stating you must cosplay. Its certainly more fun, but there's nothing to stop you going in civvies to get a feel for the show before taking the splash.

Still here? OK think back to the last film you saw, the last game you played, the last comic you read, etc. Is there any character that made you think "Oh man! It would be totally awesome to dress up as him!" If the costume is too complex to make, or too expensive to buy, think about other characters.

As for "suiting", son't sweat it. You can dress up as anyone you want. Whether that's one of the 300 Spartans or Chun Li. Forget who you look like - dress up as someone you love!

(although for the record I reckon you could do a cool Spartan or Chun!)

all excellent points! the most important thing is that its someone you think is cool.

if i went for characters that i suited, i wouldn't be cosplaying. i'm a BIG girl and not particularly feminine looking. but you know what, its all about getting into becoming those cool characters you love!

x

heh I'm doing it because it really does look like a lot of fun and could be a nice way to meet people!

lol don't think I've got the legs for Chun Li

l was thinking of going as
Sam Seed(Drunken master from a Jackie Chan Movie of the Same name)

The Immortal Iron fist (Marvel)
OR
Some kind of ninja Spiderman

These are all great ideas. My vote is for Iron Fist, but work out which ones are within your skill/price range and do one of them.

And cosplay is a great way to to meet opeople, and tremendous fun
