Yea, because remember kids! Its a COSPLAYYYYYY FORUM!

This right here.

Me and Luke (The one who started this thread) were talking about this tonight actually- this thread was never intended for such serious stuff. It was just a lighthearted 'COSTUMES FUUUUUUUU' thread. (Unless somewhere in the 59 pages the topic has been officially changed, I don't know since I haven't cared to read them all...)

Infact here's some copy 'n' paste quoting for ya:

"The Un-Happy thread
I suppose its handy Karma to have an opposite thread ^.^ just somewhere to quietly rage about a costume or something."

So yeah.. Post what you want, (who am I to say otherwise?) but lets bear the above in mind, yeah?

The OP didn't state it was strictly cosplay related in the first post, so that's nobody's fault. It's general discussion, it's here for mostly off-topic things.

Maybe he should edit his post then if people can only moan about costumes.

OR, create a new thread in the COSPLAY section and name it "WHAT'S BUGGING YOU ABOUT YOUR COSPLAY RIGHT NOW?"

Y'know, get my drift?

I dont get your drift sorry, Fables and luke made THIS one for cosplay, so Why dont you make a thread for its rapture or whatever you crazy kids are complaining about these days.

We could call it "The Pity Party Thread". Where we could tell people with a similar interest in cosplay our deepest personal problems, that they are both unable and unqualified to help with!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Back on a slightly more ON TOPIC note. The £15 tin of specialist rubber paint I brought for a resident evil project is bubbling. Less than happy. Going to add another day or two to the project I suspect.

I think I might finish my cosplay this october
HAHAH NOT!

Don't make an "opposite" thread, if that's not what it's intended for. That's the point I'm trying to make here.

Rant over. I'm honestly done here.

Guuuys, leave them alone. I know one things for sure is that it's good to vent somewhere or to someone about all the unhappy to turn that frown upside down. So what if it's a public forum? You don't have to read it. Leave them alone.

I'm not exactly the loudest of people on here so this will probably be ignored but it was worth a shot

On topic... Idk... ... ... I'm tired, but that is easily fixable with sleep
Oh! The guns that I made for a cosplay stuck together when I packed them and so I have to repaint and varnish some bits... Deadly fumes galore once again. I seriously need to make myself a fan or something to better ventilate the room! Anyone know how to make one? :'D (Nope, okay...)

Reiss! Can't finish your cosplays? Whip up another or rewear your Reisslouse costume. Best. Cosplay. Ever. Totally Best Expert worthy ;D

When the varnish is fully dry, try and find some talc, like non scented or coloured talc powder, or even the stuff that claims it's "clear" talc (yeah I don't believe it either) and dust the guns with that, then wrap them separately in plain paper so they aren't touching each other or anything else. I had that happen far too many times, it can also happen if the place you have them is a bit warm.

On topic:

arghhhh cosplay! (that's basically my stance on cosplay for the next year as I can't afford to do anything XD)

Okay, I was just lurking but this was worthy of an admittedly pointless reply XD.

If we're going for cosplay complaints:
Half of the stuff I ordered hasn't turned up (including one item that Royal Mail decided once again that they didn't want to redeliver and returned to sender). And when rinsing the dye from a replacement wig that is perhaps a little too thick for the character (it looks lovely and healthy...her hair doesn't), the shower starts spraying water everywhere from the base of the tube thing. We tear up the flat (literally) looking for the stop cock and end up without water for about 12 hours. The shower is fucked, we need a new one.
Still, I am rather proud of my first attempt at wig styling...still wish I'd got it commissioned though *sigh*. I know it could be a lot better.

I don't want to fuel any fires or whatnot but it seems I will anyway going ahead and posting. This thread WAS intended to be a cosplay based thread. Luke would go and edit the first post to clarify this but he is sleeping and also nowhere near a computer- I'm on my smartphone though so yaay.

In the argument of Happy thread vs. Unhappy thread; The happy thread was started by someone else, not me or Luke, so I don't know what was intended to go in there. You would have to ask them to specify, as I have done here for me and Luke. I'm not using specific examples but in general People would much rather hear about how someone is getting married or promoted or whatnot as opposed to someone getting kicked out, or wanting to end it all or something along those lines. That's just how things are. Usually if something is really really wrong, you need to speak about it to someone properly, not whine on a forum catering to specific interests. However with positives people like to share, and it's usually something much more worth celebrating to the general public. It's not me and Luke trying to be dicks with a specific thread, it just seems to make more sense to have a little corner where we can fuuu quietly about things gone wrong maybe have other cosplayers Input with help, or let us know they're in the same boat so we can fuuu together.

Also this is not aimed at specifically you Mycroftwave, nor was my previous post, (hell I've posted in here previously and it's been off-topic) I don't want to offend anyone, I'm just stating what I know. And that's all I gotta say on the matter.

As for Cosplay, I really don't know where to begin with a Pattern for Chun Li's dress... I should have started it by now! D:

Oddly enough, I post in here in case I have anything to offer to help. I didn't know it was a place to have little fuus about cosplay.

BUT I'm glad it is. I have many little fuus about cosplay that I often don't think require a thread making about it.

I'm trying to modify a tailcoat to fit in a certain way. I've had to go a size large due to cutting a lot of the front out and around my chest and waist it fits fine. I am now left with the problem of big sleeves. Does anyone know how to make a sleeve and its sleeve hole smaller?

I don't know if I can explain this properly but you could try nipping some of the fabric around the armhole and make a small dart to pull it in? You'd probably have to remove the sleeves though... Then whilst the sleeves are off you can just take them in before reattaching?

I thought it just made a good place to air your issues with the world, however meagre or serious they may be. And hey, I'm gonna continue to use it this way. Because I enjoy ranting too much

And here's a meagre non-cosplay unhappiness I have: Spent ages downloading some custom mods for the Sims 3 and the really good ones don't work!

Here's something that - for me - is very important: From Thursday I won't have a job O_O FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I need one of them to cosplay!!!!!

Another meagre thing: cat brought in mouse. Half eaten mouse O_o Cat is icky.

Can I just say that if it bothered everyone so much that people weren't staying on topic (supposedly), then why did it take you all 60 pages to kick up a fuss about it? None of you have cared to say anything since this thread began. Everyone has been posting things that generally upset them from page 1, now you've gone and chased off someone from using CI because you've all ganged up on her due to one post.

Next time, if someone is being off topic then say so on page 1. Jeez.

In my original post, I said I hadn't read all 59 pages. If you want my honest, bitchy opinion, I think that someone saying they're going to kill themselves on a public forum? Attention seeking. That's what got me so riled up.

And if that person is chilidish enough to leave a whole website behind because they got called out in just one thread, that's thier deal.

Not a personal attack, just telling it like I see it. I'll stop being a dick now.

I agree, I mean I wanna ask you guys I know it's not what this thread was originally intended for, but it's still healthy just to vent if you've had a bad day or something, right? Personally, I don't think you should come into this thread looking for solutions to your personal problems, which maybe some people here do but there's nothing wrong with just saying that something has annoyed you or whatever.

I'm just saying, it's not terrible if people use it for silly little rants as well, right?

It wouldn't be the end of the world, I admit, bit I can't fathom why you'd come to a Cosplay website and Cosplay Forum, for things that aren't Cosplay releated. You wouldn't go to a forum about pets and moan that you can't afford a house. Or a forum about Cars and tell them your granddad died or something. Or a million other examples ranging in levels of extremity.

Cha, but since this is in the general discussion I presumed (way back when) that it could be used for anything that was forming unhappiness, which was "backed" by the fact that no-one had said "this is just suppose to be cosplay related grrrrr" or whatever. Some things I understand about not putting on here, but I really don't see the issue - or why there's so much... drama (for want of a better word) about it.

People will use this thread for anything that makes them unhappy, just like they use the happy thread for anything that makes them happy. I know you didn't make the happy thread, but meh, they're still connected to each other. And the first post is "just somewhere to quietly rage about a costume or something" Cha I know it's never really seen as a place that you should rage about something that's really really serious on here, but sometimes people just need other people to go "hey, i've been there, it's not that bad" or even just to get it off their chest so they don't feel so... cramped (not the word I'm thinking of but I can't actually pin point that word atm lol)

Anyway, what I came on here to whinge about: I got a video camera for my bday, thinking "yay, I'll be able to do skits and CMVs with this"... I don't think it allows you to put it on the PC... it's the type that use mini dvds and since I could put my film project on here way back when I thought I would be with this, but I can't seem to figure it out

Well, yeah I can see your point... But it is in the General Discussion, remember. At the end of the day, cosplay discussion can only include so much; "Cosplays I want to do." "I need help with sewing/modifying etc." "Who should I cosplay?" I think a nice part of this forum is the ability to just be able to chat to other cosplayers... There's next to none in my area, and so... It does make a nice change being able to come onto here.

Again, I do see where you're coming from and I do agree I think maybe some people use this for the wrong reason. If people ask strangers on the internet for answers to all their problems then that's probably not a healthy thing to do to begin with. Just ranting and venting about having a crappy day is pretty harmless though.

Ah, either way at the end of the day it's your thread so do with it what you will. I'll respect your decision either way.

Re: Fables - do you really expect people to join an 'unhappy forum' purely to comment on what is getting them down? As it's already been pointed out, this is in General Discussion, which is for pretty much anything not related to cosplay. Hence, why people are commenting in an unhappy thread about general things that make them unhappy.

If it really bugs you that much, go and make a thread about 'Cosplay that makes you unhappy'. I really don't get why people are making such a fuss about somebody posting unhappy thoughts in an unhappy thread. I for one, am going to keep using this thread for the same way we have done for the last 60 pages. I'm sorry but there's really much bigger things to be getting upset over.

Fair dos if this girl has upset you saying she's going to kill herself, but put yourself in her shoes - if you were in her situation and people commented saying things like 'omg you're such an attention seeker', in what possible situation is that going to be any help? This unhappy thread has been doing rather well and people have been supporting each other through things which do get them down. Let's keep it like that? As I said, if it bothered you so much, you've had plenty of time to set it straight. The thread was started in 2009, and I'm pretty sure you would have at least checked back at least once in those two years and had a chance to set everything straight.

I didn't know her that well, but from observation she was a regular and had some pretty decent comments in the forum, she's just sticking up for what she believes in.

As to why people are venting in a cosplay forum. Who knows? Maybe it's where nobody close by knows who they are so they feel some sort of confidentiality in venting here and don't have to worry about getting picked on about it IRL. Or maybe they just feel like this is their closest knit community. I don't know the reasoning, but if you don't want to hear about it, then just skip the post.

As people have said, it's general discussion. They can chat about whatever they want.
