Where to find a corset?
I'm trying to find a pale coloured underbust corset with a pointed top and all I can find are the straight cut ones. Oh ebay have you abandoned me?

Can anyone recommend a corset shop/maker? I'm hapy to get one custom made, but I'm never sure of ebay custom sellers, I want to see previous work first

I've made corsets, and belive it or not they can be altered. You just need to find one with the right busk length, then remove the top binding, remove the bones, then chop it down, shorten the bones and reinsert them, then re-bind the top.

It's a bit more complicated than that, but corsets can be played with a lot more than people think, even if you don't know how to make one yourself.

You should trust Tab and have a shot at customising a corset! You're good at sewing so you should give it a shot! Maybe practice with a cheap one? Or make one yourself. Have you ever been on thesewingforum.com? The people there are so helpful and friendly and there are many a corset maker there too! Those people helped me with making my suits when I nearly committed suicide! (slight exaggeration)

Your best bet is to try to get a corset that doesn't have steel boning because its much harder to cut them down. Try to go with a plastic boned one.

You can even make your own boning out of zipties which works quite well, and is stronger than the generic plastic boning you can buy.

Thanks guys, I'd completely forgotten that the boning sits in cases so you just slide them out. If I can find something cheapish I think I'll play about

That's a great link Georgi, they have a whole channel on corsets! There goes my evening XD

Hahaha Tell me about it! There's so much on there I'm constantly losing myself! I even like to entertain myself with the sewing humour. Yes, there are jokes about sewing!!! How geeky
