| Well, I did Afro Samurai again but really did the character justice this time in my opinion! This time I had a better headband (Afro Samurai merchandise) and had time to get a wig. I didnt wear hakama this time as I found they were too baggy... Instead I got some martial arts trousers and just cut them a bit to look a bit more hakama-like. The sword was a pain in the ass to make. I had to buy a bokken, spray the blade chrome and then spray the sheath red. The thing is, as I was spraying the blade outside in the dark I sprayed it on far too thick and it took a few days to dry fully... AND people kept touching it in the house so I had to respray it about 3 times!!! In the end my fussiness paid off, cos the blade looked quite real...! I was gonna change the rope on the handle to red as well, but once again I ran out of time... only decided to do this costume at very short notice (a week before the expo). | |
