Description
I made this costume for a Team Rocket group with Lex_is_evil, White Leviathan, Haynes84, seraphim_cry and kimpey. It was a very straightforward costume for the most part - the top and skirt were bought in H&M for less than a tenner in total, the R was cotton drill and Bondaweb, the hat was £3 from Primark (and dyed black with fabric spray) and the gloves were an eBay find. Lex kindly donated the belt!

I had trouble finding boots that had the right look so I decided to make boot covers, built on top of an old pair of slippers for comfort. Unfortunately I'd never made boot covers before and my job ate up so much of my time that I didn't get to make them properly. As such, they were hastily sewn together at the last minute and secured to my legs with duct tape (yes, some of it was stuck directly to my skin). They looked ghetto as all hell but at least they stayed up while I was dancing like a loon! I was planning to get some proper boots for a photo shoot some time in the future, but then Jake asked if I'd wear the costume again for Ayacon so I ended up picking some up much sooner than expected! By coincidence I managed to find some that were pretty much spot-on on eBay, in an auction that finished just in time to get them shipped to me before Aya, and I was delighted with them. The only problem I had was that the hard soles were really loud on the wooden stage - oops!

This has actually proven to be the costume that's been most fun for me to wear so far, largely because of the events of the charity auction at Ayacon where Team Rocket, with help from outside contributors Fatkraken and Nert, pooled our resources to collectively buy a giant plush Pikachu for the purpose of sheer hilarity. It resulted in probably the funniest and most exciting bidding war ever, with us all cheering and clapping and the audience chanting. In the end we got the Pikachu for £105, which went to the British Heart Foundation, so it was lulz with a social conscience! Having people tell us afterwards how much fun it had been to watch the bidding war was fantastic too :D
