Costume Information

This is for Geekfest in Kent. A small geeky party run by University of Kent geek societies.

I love Lara Croft, especially the original on PS1. But I didn't want to be like all the other girls at cons wearing a Lara Croft outfit. So it's perfect for a small event like this!

Based on Anniversary (which is basically a HD version of the original but with poorer game play)

Gun Holsters (Posted 17th March 2014)

I didn't really think about how I would do these when I was making them so I kind of just made it up. My original plan was to use this pleather I had lying around and spray it black but I scrapped that in the end and went for a spare black belt and some black fabric I had lying around in stead XD

I made the straps by machine sewing along a folder strip of fabric and then turning it inside out to get a clean finish. I adjusted the lengths where needed and chopped off the excess with pinking shears (is that spealt right?)
I glues some fabric to a piece of plastic for the holsters and machined that to the strips of fabric and voila! I had to attach all that together AFTER the belt was on the shorts otherwise I would have never been able to get them on!

I was pretty happy with them considering.

Making the Shorts (Posted 15th March 2014)

I had looked in shops and online for some good shorts but it being winter still and only spring clothes coming out there were NO brown hotpants ANYWHERE. So I had to make them. Which was probably good practice.

This was the second pair of shorts I'd ever made. I used the same jeans pattern I used previously on Horo. The thing with this was I cut out shorts to fit a size 16 so it was large enough to downsize to my shape. The only problem was my big butt :/ I had to add extra pannels to the back to stop underwear from showing. It turned out great in the end, although not exactly something I could wear everyday on the street.

Making the Top (Posted 12th March 2014)

I used a tank top as a pattern to mark out the top, and then had to make adjustments to fit my bewbs because the fabric wasn't as stretchy.

It came out pretty well considered it was done in an hour and a half!
