Post Expo (Posted 1st June 2010) I had a lot of fun being in the Moon Group on Sunday and that was made possible by somehow managing to get it finished (with a great deal of help). The boots I bought from Chibi, as she no longer wanted them. All in all lots of fun. What this costume has brought to my attention is my body issues. It might be because I was surrounded by slender and sexy ladies but every picture I've seen so far from the Masquerade I've hated. I looked short and fat and my face looks weird. My front bow is floppy and my wig looks scrappy. Urgh. Cue a lot of self-hating... I need to re-make the skirt and reattach some part of the hip roll. I want to remake the gloves using matt gloves and change the glove rolls. But mostly I want to lose some weight before I re-wear this - and by some I mean a lot of weight. Plus I want to look into the body-shaping thing that Amy-Lou suggested would be suitable for this kind of costume... So plenty to improve on - won't post pictures up unless someone can show me a decent one... |

3 days and counting (Posted 25th May 2010) I've remade the bodice so it's longer - much much longer, like almost down to my knees. I'm going to hand-sew the shoulder rolls on tonight. Thankfully those have already been made. Then if I have time tonight I want to get same_difference to help pin the hip roll to me so I can hand-sew that in place. After that it'll be a case of attaching and hemming the skirt. Other things completed today are the sewing of the back bow, the popper of which will be added once the bodice is done, and the broach. It's been stuffed, paper-mached, sanded (with a nail file no less) and painted. It won't be perfectly smooth but will be something to improve on. A few more coats of paint and a varnish and I can loop the ribbon through it and viola! the front bow will be done ready to be attached. Haven't even started the glove rolls. May be an Expo job >.< |

Lycra Acquired (Posted 1st May 2010) So got my lycra today to remake the bodice. I need to make sure that it is longer and the neck line is thinner. Hopefully if I have some time on Monday (as opposed to coursework) I can get that re-cut and sewn. After that everything will fall into place. |

Countdown to Expo (Posted 22nd April 2010) Couldn't get this done for Minami but it's close. Need to pick up more Lycra on Saturday. Left to do: Biggest thing will be figuring out the boots. I have a perfect pair but they don't quite fit. I'm going to try and alter them but I'm not entirely sure how... |
