| The girl I got my username from! xD From the start of my cosplaying experience, I have always told myself that one day I'm going to be cosplaying this girl. She's one of my favourite characters ever - Definitely my dream costume. I've been working on this since November 2007 so I'm hoping it turns out well in the end considering the amount of work and number of people who've been working on it! This costume is going to be worn at Midlands MCM Expo September 08. The hat was made purely from foam, and superglue. I discovered back when my Sheena Fujibayashi cosplay was in progress that I was actually kinda skilled with foam, (My original bootcovers were made from foam, but then they didn't work too well so I left them behind) which was where the idea to try and make a hat from foam came from. It took me less than an hour to make, though I never found a way to close the hole at the top of the hat, so it's currently still got it :( The grates on the coat are also made from foam. I bought a red coat from eBay to save attempting to make my own, which was then modified by my best friend. The crest was made from felt and attached to the coat using poppers. The grey eyelets for the rope on the cuffs on the sleeves were also made from foam, then the rope was woven around the holes in the coat. The blue neckchief eventually ended up white, using spare fabric that we had lieing around. Originally I planned to have the pants made of yellow fabric, but then my friends pointed out that compared to the yellow on the crest, the pants weren't actually that yellow. So we took a trip to the orange section, and everything was really expensive. x_x Fun stuff. We ended up with a peachy kinda colour, as it was only 99p a metre... xD My mum made the pants for me, and because I wanted them so baggy, they are HUGE. I love them. xD The ribbon on the tail is made from the same fabric as the pants. The legs we originally planned to use brown spandex for but couldn't find any ANYWHERE. We did find white, but I didn't really want to take the risk of attempting to dye it, then the dyeing not working, so close to the convention. That and the fact that I wouldn't have enough money to buy the white spandex and dye, then if that didn't work, buy brown fabric after. So I ended up spending like... £14 on this fabric that would work. x_x My sister made the legs for me and they are awesome. The tail was made from the leftover fabric, stuffed and a wire was used to make it stay up. The shoes were modded from some cheapo grey ugg boots style shoes. They were old and I hardly ever wore them any more, so my sister sewed some claws onto the front of the shoes for me :D The spear was made by my Grandad back in May when I originally planned to wear this to May Expo. As I didn't end up going, I didn't actually paint the spear until three days before Midlands! I'd run out of money at that point as well, so he gave me £20 to buy paint for the spear. Love. ;__; | |

[06/09/2008] (Posted 2 Months Ago) I procrastinated so badly with this... There's still quite a lot that needs doing, I know that the spear definitely won't be painted in time for Midlands. I don't really have the money to buy the paint in the first place, so Cat and I are skipping masquerade entry this time round and entering when our costumes are the best they can be. I've finally got a photo of the updated coat now. Cat did a lot for me because I got stuck, and it looks awesomeeeeee. My sister's been making me a lot of stuff as well, so I owe her quite a lot of props in future... xD |

Freya is amazzzing :D I'm such a fan of this kind of strong woman character, but everytime I dress womanly people think I'm a drag queen LOL so I stick to guys cosplay ;3 I wanna see your Freya!!
I love the hat (I don't blame Crazedteensie for wanting to steal it lol) and as Amine Angel said, your making great progress with the costume so far and it's going to look awesome.
Can't wait for our FFIX group in May (hopefully I can finish my Garnet dress in time)

Taking it out of the pack might not be such a bad idea, that way you can brush it, and do all those other really important things we all say we'll do, when in fact it's a great excuse to take it out and prance round the house in you latest wig!
