|I've been trying to hold back but I failed. I fell in love with Sylveon's design the second I saw it, it's just so so cute! It's easily my favourite Fairy-type Pokemon, and has fast become my joint favourite Eeveelution with Espeon. |
I finally have a plan for what I'm doing! Based on a really cute group I saw at expo, I've been planning and sketching out some RPG-class gijinkas of the eeveelutions c: To me, Sylveon just screams idol/songstress/performer because cuteness and bows and frills! My design is still influenced by various fanarts though.
This was quite the challenge to make in just under three weeks, but I'm really really happy with how it turned out!
Pink satin covered in pink fairy organza ears, with blue chiffon detail. The ribbon is white duchess satin with the strips done in pink fairy organza, and blue chiffon. The ribbon is stitched to the ears to keep it in place. All of this is sewn onto a hairband that kiiiinda matches my wig. The stars are from Dreamy Bows!
White duchess satin with lace edging, and I did the bow in the same way as on the head-dress. It's fastened by a popper at the back.
The bane of my life, seriously. The top is duchess satin, constructed from the pattern I used for Rapunzel and Susan. I added lace around the edges and front panel, and made poof sleeves from gathered/elasticated rectangles of satin. The skirts were HELL to make. They are 4 circle skirts, one of each made from white satin, pink fairy organza, navy catatonic chiffon and sky-blue chiffon, each layer increasing in size. Needless to say, hemming them all was GREAT fun :/. I then added lace to the white skirt.
Made from my usual waspie pattern (with the front elongated) with pink satin and pink fairy organza. I used plastic boning (using it all up before I start using steel again), and stitched gold bias binding to the edges. The bow on the back is more fairy organza, stuffed with tulle netting.
White duchess satin, made from the same pattern as my Meruru ones, but a bit less poofy.
More pink satin/fairy organza. Made from the pattern I made for my Luna/Terra gauntlet-style gloves. The were a pain to make, because of the petals/triangles at the top!
I bought a kid's magic wand thing from a pound shop, painted it, and stitched on another bow/ribbon like the ones from the head-dress and collar.
The wig, tights and shoes were all bought from eBay.
May Expo 2014: I LOVED wearing this! I felt so cute all day and lots of people really seemed to like it c: It turned out to look VERY magical-girl-y but this is no bad thing! The shoes did hurt a lot and the wig made my head really wide so the wind was a bit of an issue, but other than that it was really comfy c:
(Probably not taking this to JE after all as I have so much to take already haha)
EXPO IS TOO SOON AAAH (Posted 20th May 2014)
Mild panic is setting in!
Progress (Posted 9th May 2014)
The shoes and tights arrived and are exactly what I wanted. Still waiting on the wig.
The dress is well under way, the bodice is done (sans the front detail) and the skirts have all been cut out, and I'm now working my way through the laborious task of hemming them (sob)
Starting! (Posted 8th April 2014)
I've ordered a wig, some tights and some shoes for this already, so they all arrive in plenty of time for Expo c:
