Costume Information

Description
I plan to make the Armourer specific armour, from FF XIV: ARR.

I'm only really going to be able to work on this at weekends, so, I may struggle to finish this in time for Minami, but, I'll give it my best shot.

Why an Armourer? why not one of the combat classes? well, I actually really like the look of the Armourer equipment, so, why not?

Anyway, I'll try to keep you all updated as to the progress of it.

Unfortunately, it didn't turn out for Minami this year ;_;

I'm still working on it though, but's it's likely to be a long project and probably won't be ready until Minamicon next year...

Journal

Some progress (Posted 8th April 2014)

I realise I've fallen off the radar with this one. So, just a quick update on progress really.

Between when I decided that I'd work on this up until about two weeks ago, I hadn't actually worked on it, the UDK (Unreal Development Kit) took a lot of my attention.

However, over the last couple of weekends, I did some more work on the shirt part of this cosplay. So far, I've got the base of it done (sans collar and cuffs).

All that's left to do on the shirt is the collar, cuffs, panelling and other little bits and pieces. I have no image yet, but, I probably won't show the shirt until it's complete :)

The Shirt (Posted 10th November 2013)

I've been spending some time this weekend working on the shirt.

However, I've also done a bit of work at home so, that's taken up some of my time this weekend. however, I have made a little progress.

Yesterday, I picked up the fabric I need to make the shirt, and I spent pretty much all of this afternoon (with a small break for lunch) marking the fabric and cutting the pieces out.

I'd start sewing tonight, but I think it might be a little late now >_> though I would like to get the shirt made before next weekend.

I may have to add a couple of extra panels in at the sides and over the shoulders, it feels a little... tight... I did a fitting by pinning all of the pieces together, just to make sure that it's okay.

I'll let you know how it goes :)

Shirt progress (Posted 3rd November 2013)

I've spent the majority of this evening drawing parts for the shirt, I think I've jotted everything down. now, I just need to take measurements, which requires finding our tape measure or getting a new one...

once that's done, I can go and get the fabric and start crafting!

plans (Posted 3rd November 2013)

The plan here is to build this thing up in layers, so, I'll start with the lowest layers first, basically the shirt and the pants. I'm not sure what I'll do next after that though, perhaps the apron? we'll see.

I've already been thinking about how best to do the shirt, I think, looking at the reference pics, that I'll make the main torso part in four pieces, to give the necessary seems, with a single piece for each arm. And that's as far as I've got with that.
