Progress (Posted 4th November 2013)
So I'm feeling very guilty about having signed up for this and not done very much about it! My parents visited over the weekend, which has stalled my progress somewhat. I've worked on my gilbert cosplay, which I know is a cheat since I started it before November but the real aim is to get me sewing. I've sewn together the outer layer and the lining of my jacket and now I'm trying to add the sort of arrow patterns down the front. First I had a practice go. The technique I'm trying to use is using bondaweb to fix the arrows, which are made from silver satin, on to the outside and then sewing around the edges with my machine to prevent fraying. My practice go seems to have worked okay (maybe I will post pictures), so I'm going to have a go at the real thing.
The LARP costume has really stalled though. I've bought myself some nice cherry pattern blossum brocade (it is for a very pretentious aristocrat character) and I'm trying to make up minds what to do with it. Probably it will make a simple waistcoat of some sort.
