|Painstakingly crafted as a duo cosplay with a dear friend, this is probably the most detailed and accurate costume I have ever made!|
Since L is so pale, I stayed out of the sun for three years to achieve the correct pallor. My hair, I cut to the right length and gelled with egg, just like a punk rocker (which stragely smelt like hairspay ;) ), and I stayed up for a week without sleeping before the photoshoot. There was nothing white enough to use as fabric for the t-shirt since I was so pale, so I had to get the deathly white of the souls of three times three times three dead goats to weave into the texture to make me glow with the death of it all. The jeans were tricky. To achieve the correct colour, I had to stonewash, bleach, tumble, sun-lighten and eventually re-dye them using crushed shells of a thousand fruit beetles for the correct luminesence. The trainers, are far from perfect.
Taking inspiration from the awesome comittee of 4Kids, we decided that distressing images appear in Death Note, so we make changes so as not to frighten the masses. Light's scythe was put in the washer on a boil and came out just the right size, we edited the images of handcuffs from our photographs, and the idea of a Death Note is far too macabre, so we ammended it to a "Disappearing Note". All good, sensible, and reasonable changes, wouldn't you say?
Thank you very much to Fishyfins, who is the Light to my L. The wonderful photographs were by Emeratus2000
All in all, this was my favourite, and most painstaking costume, and I'm sure you'll agree this costume is going to win best in show!
Does anyone have the date?
****NOTE**** This was uploaded on the morning of April 1st 2009, and it is all staying exactly as I've put it ^^
