|The Black Canary, one of the many comic versions, its not 100% accurate, but most people seemed to get who I was. |
Bodysuit I made from wetlook lycra, first full garment I've ever made, stitching is beyond awful and it doesn't fit quite right, need to redo. There a corset, padding and a lot of control underwear underneath it to try and squeeze me into a super heroine shape.
Jacket was from H&M, its not perfect either, still to long, is a bit crumpled and the sleeves wouldn't stay rolled up.
Gloves came off ebay, are some sort of security/paintball thingy, fingerless in black leather, I added yellow armour sections made from craft foam and sheet styrene.
Tights, well actually there 2 pairs, some flesh tone dance tights for modesty over which there's "Medium net" tights I got from ebay, I felt regular fishnet's where a bit too fine and didn't give the comic look, but the medium net worked out all right. They do tend to snag on just about anything though.
Boots where from www.alternative-footwear.co.uk, they are Demonia brand sort of goth/biker boots, the yellow bits on the boots are a sandwich of 1.5l coke bottle plastic (to get the curve), craft foam (to add some thickness) and thin styrene sheet (to give a smooth surface), all glued together with contact adhesive and spray painted gloss yellow. They where attached to the boots with Copydex latex adhesive, that enabled me to remove them afterwards without leaving to much of a mess (I like those boots and want to wear them, with other outfits)
Wore it to MCM Expo October 2012, it was my first time in a (mostly) home made costume, plus its a bit racy, so I was a bit nervous, but the vast majority of people where nice and I did a group photo shoot with other DC cosplayers, did get a couple of WTF's though, well I am rather old, 6' 5" in those boots and well, work it out....
