| Well I was gonna do a complex costume at first... but wanted a back up costume as well just in case I couldn't do the complex costume in time... and I thought may as well do a mascot moogle as I had an idea of how to make a bodysuit... and I thought making a head couldn't be that hard.. so that's how I came across doing a Moogle cosplay! =D [My 'complex cosplay' was The Red Whirldwind from Romeo x Juliet if any of you cared btw xD... I never got it done =[]... I thought this would have been a a simple task that would have taken me 2 weeks max... but noooo... It took me about a month because I'm lazy with cosplay xD; The head was made out of chicken wire which i had to punch into shape... my fists hurt T-T I got loads of scratches from the chicken wire... Ha... cosplay can be dangerous XD. I then got some 'normal wire' and got a metal stick thing and wrapped the wire around to make a spiral type thing for the pompom.. I then added some thinner wire inside the spiral so that the pompom could bend. I then attached it to the top. After I got the chicken wire into head shape I covered it with bubble wrap [yes bubble wrap] because the fabric I had was kinda see through and I could see the wire through the fabric so I put bubble wrap on it. Then finally I added the fabric on and made it best fitted as possible [kinda failed though]. After that all I had left to do was stick the pompom on, add details to the face... then add eye holes [though really i should have done this first ¬_¬] Next was the bodysuit... The most easiest part! I just measured my torso with a pillow to give the moogle pouch shape then measured my arms and legs... I then cut out the shapes then sew them together... It was actually very time consuming because I kept on making clumsy mistakes like sewing the arm/leg the wrong way round xD [shows how professional i am eh? XD]. Then I added the wings... which was my favourite part! =D pretty simple... just cut out the shape then add stuffing XD. It was very hot when wearing this... and falling apart by the end of the day... the next mascot I make I need to make a mental note of wearing the costume for the whole day and see where the weak parts are so that i can strengthen the stitching beforehand xD; | |
