|Awards :||London MCM Expo May 2013 - Sunday Masquerade (Parade) - Judges' Choice Award (First Costume Construction)|
|Time Taken :||Five months (not continuously)|
|I really enjoy the Spice & Wolf series, so I decided to cosplay as Holo. It's my first time in making a costume, so it's been a bit of a learning curve in what works...and what doesn't ^_^. Nevertheless, it's been extremely fun to do :)|
|Small Costume Adjustments||Low||Complete|
It's all over... (Posted 27th May 2013)
So, the Expo is now over (until October), and it was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and winning an award in the Masquerade was a definite shock too ^_^. It was great to meet people on here, as well as others, to see in person the amazing work that went into their costumes.
It was one awesome weekend, and I hope I can attend again in the future :D
Complete! (Posted 24th May 2013)
The costume is finally done, and I'm very happy with how it's turned out. I shall update with pictures of the completed costume after the Expo :)
Finishing Touches (Posted 17th May 2013)
The costume is almost complete :) I need to adjust the cloak slightly so the fabric hangs the way I would like it to ^_^. The anklet which I made...well...didn't really work the way I expected it to, so I've essentially scrapped it and started again. However, once these areas have been completed, alongside a few other finishing touches, the costume should be done ^_^
Dual Wield: Hairdryers (Posted 4th May 2013)
Today I managed to complete the pouch, which is good. Currently working on the tail faux fur. I need to dye the chosen fur with acrylic paint to get the ideal match for the wig; at the moment I have a hairdryer in each hand, hoping to get at least one section dyed and dried by tonight :)
With less than a month to go... (Posted 1st May 2013)
After reading the manga and watching the anime (now reading the novels), I decided to cosplay as Holo (with my partner as Lawrence). Currently, most of the costume is complete, just a couple of adjustments here and there. "In progress" pieces left are the anklet, pouch and tail, which should be done soon.
I shall try to upload some pictures too. If anyone has ideas on how I can improve, please let me know; this is my first time making a costume, so I'm sure I've missed a trick somewhere ^_^
