Description
Another team effort with Arami Heartilly. She wanted to do the Valor Form Kairi and I wanted to do the Rinoa Heartilly variant, both from the Dead Fantasy series. I was looking forward to this project because Gunblade + Pinwheel + Massive Wings.

The Gunblade (Vanishing Star) and Wings were mostly made quite early on in the year to get them out of the way, however the feathering process was left until the last minute so that I could transport the wings without damaging them too much. I may have brought three hobby craft stores out of their feathers in the process. ._.

For the wings, I used PVC tubes wired through with thick moulding wire (to hold desired shapes) and a garden net, I then sewed down a large layer of stuffing on both sides of each wing to act as a base for the feathers. I sewed down some fluffy stuff that I acquired to neaten up the top edges then each feather was glued into the stuffing and then individually sewn down in two places to hold it. The wings were then feathered on both sides.

The mistake I made was not reinforcing the harness enough and it broke during the queue for the masquerade. In a last minute struggle, we managed to find some white thread to sew across the wings to hold them up for the rest of the day.

The belt was quite fun do do as I acrylic painted the design onto leather attached to foam, although I had added eyelets, the belt was actually held together by Velcro to get the positioning right.

Although I've always wanted to do a Rinoa cospay at some point, I had a lot of fun doing the darker blue alternative version.

Thanks, those wings took a lot of work, especially as they were the first time I had tried to make wings for a costume myself. I've actually come across some of the earlier progress pictures that I had for the wings, gunblade and pinwheel if you're interested in seeing them.

I notice that you're a Rinoa cosplayer yourself! :)
