|Cost :||£60 including wig and props|
|Time Taken :||On and off for 2-3 months!|
Okay, so I've never used a vocaloid program! I don't care, I wanna cosplay Miku! I love her outfit and being able to pull it off would be a mega confidence boost! Plus, having super long hair is something I've always wanted! Now I can get a wig and get away with it :P
I've decided that she'll debut at Kita 2010, so keep your eyes open for her ;P I've got all the fabric ready, but my camera is playing up so I cant get progress shots! My plushie leek is here, which I ordered from TokyoToys, and I got some cheap cans from Home Bargains I can mod for the headpiece. I am changing the boots though, because it would be a lot more comfortable if I wore leg warmers and platform boots! I think I might use ribbon in the hair, too, rather than make the complicated diamond thingies!!

Minor Adjustments~ (Posted 6th July 2010)
I re-wore Miku for a cosplay picnic, which was this weekend just gone. For some reason, I think I looked better in it then than I did at Kita!
So, a 50% more accurate Miku costume in under an hour. Whoo! ^^
Fun Times! (Posted 22nd January 2010)
Well, on Wednesday night me and Bambi and our blokeys had a little stop-over at theirs, where the two of us got on with our Vocaloid outfits, and I made a lot of headway on the shirt. I was just short on the blue ribbon I'd gotten for the trims, so had to substitute with other white and blue ribbon- turns out the original blue I'd picked was from the scraps box and was discontinued, :'(
Anyway, all that remains for this one is the headphones and some minor details- everything is pinned in place but needs sewing over the weekend. Miku is officially my fallback cosplay if Zatanna falls through for midlands :3
Finished, Almost? (Posted 12th January 2010)
WELL it's certainly getting there. I did some test shots last night which I will post and let you be the judge of... there's 3 or 4 variants I attempted. What else... Oh! I'm stating modding the headphones this week, too :)
I totally found... (Posted 6th January 2010)
THE perfect shirt in charity shop yesterday :3 I'll get it done tonight and pictures for you all!
Plus I wore my Miku skirt to Uni on Monday, and a total of four people said they liked it withuot knowing I made it. I'm so proud~!

Materials Aquired! (Posted 10th December 2009)
After another trip to Boyes, I managed t obut everytihng I need to finish this costume :3 I started the skirt a while ago, but ran out of fabric due to my bad math, haha! I bought more black for the other half of the skirt as well as more blue ribbon to hem it. I also got enough ribbon and fabric to make leg warmers and add ribbon to the arm warmers, too!
I also bought some gray poly cotton, which I'm going to use to attempt making the waistcoat, but it remains to be seen how well that goes!
My wig was ordered the other day! :D And my plushie leek arrived from TokyoToys, too :3 All I need prop wise now is headphones!!
Sleeves are Done! (Posted 25th November 2009)
Well, the basic sleeves are done :) I cracked out the machine last night, and grabbed that bag of black fabric! First of all I just pinned the black fabric into a tube around my arms. This worked, but I got impaled with tiny pins a lot @_@. I then cut it so that above my elbow the fabric is tight, and below the elbow it was flowy and loose, to try and mirror the actual style as much as possible. They're held onto my arm with a loop of elastic, (which, by the way, is an absolute pain to sew around!) which I then looped the fabric over and tried my best to sew it in place. One of them I sewed the elastic section first, then I sewed the side seam to make it tubular. For the second one I hemmed and sewed the side seam first, then attempted the elastic loop last, and this worked so much better! I was kicking myself after since I spent so long doing the first one only to out-do myself immediately after.
To make them stand out I sewed with electric blue thread on the black fabric, but they're essentially just black arm warmers right now. I do have some silver ribbon to hem them with tonight, and then on my next trip to Boyes or Hobbycraft, I'm going to grab another square of dark dark gray fabric, some fabric paint, and get to work on the electric 'panel' she has on her arm. I'll get a basic fabric photo tonight, and I should be starting the skirt, too! Yaay~
