|After suddenly deciding I wanted to do this costume exactly two weeks before the con I’ve managed to create this in around two or three days in between working on my other cosplays.|
I liked the character of Yuuri from the get go- just in the school uniform- but when I saw the blue cloak I loved it! I would also like to make one of his civilian disguise costumes as they are so cute! Kyou Kara Maou seems so under-cosplayed and I thought I would add one more ^^ The real reason I decided upon this costume though is Morgif. I adore the thing, and don’t ask me why either, he’s just unbelievably cool!
The jacket is made from sturdy black cotton and it buttons up on the inside (the gold buttons are non-functional and are just decoration). Unfortunately in the pictures I have at the minute I’m not wearing a sports bra which causes the jacket to gape and the white strips that hold the buttons are visible. But no matter, we shall prevail eventually! The cloak thing is made from satin with lovely draping gold braiding. The brooch thing is a little thick in hindsight but it is made from the inner roll of some parcel tape, so +1 to resourcefulness! Because of all the other costumes I have for AmeCon ’08, I had very little budget for this costume. In fact, I’ve only spent £5.98 on it altogether as I already had the correct fabrics. I painted the gold buttons, the necklace is painted in a lovely shade of blue and that’s about it for this costume! I’ve always wanted to wear a boys Japanese school uniform <3
There will be more pictures of this after the con with the KKM meet. But thank you very much to emeratus2000 for his lovely, lovely photoshoot of me! (I'm sure you can tell which were taken by him and which were self-timed bedroom pictures ^^')
Item’s made: School uniform jacket, blue cloak wrap with braiding and huge brooch, necklace, Morgif sword (This was not made from scratch, but is extremely customised! Space and prop rules were very tight for AmeCon so I used a toy sword to build on. It's not the proper length to be fair, but at least it's safe and easy to traponsort and carry around!)
This is a highly accurate representation costume-wise. The only boo boo is that Yuuri’s actual jacket fastens with the buttons on the other side, but I’m a girl and have gotten used to buttoning them up this way instead!
… I heart Morgif!
