|Time Taken :||3 weeks so far|
|Okay so I've been following this movie since it was in the design stages and I've been super stoked to finally start on the darn thing so after a couple months wasted on doing commissions for "free" I finally was able to realize my dream of cosplaying for a movie premiere :3 |
My goal was to make Anna's costume a little bit more fancy, so I embellished the original design quite a bit but not too much like I usually do for my costumes. I wanted to maintain the spirit of the original design but add my own little twist to it.
The skirt was made out of Pointe de Roma knit fabric since it was one of the only royal blue fabrics I could find while I was at the Joanns, and I wanted to mimic the textures in the film. It has a nice feel to it and the color just SCREAMED Anna. I bought an extra fabric in a lighter blue, which I think was some kind of satiny material I found in the suiting section and cut scallops with them and appliquéd them on by machine. All the panels were painted by hand and I tried out making stencils for each of the designs, and may I just say it made the job so much easier :) Each of the flowers and points of the scallops on the bottom are accented with little rhinestones for a bit of a magical princess feel. I made an underskirt with some basic cotton and added a sequin trim on top of the scalloped hem to mimic a sort of frost bitten look
The cape was made of polar fleece and lined with a cheap satin I bought on Ebay. I was lucky enough to find the perfect color match XDD The cape is hand painted on the edges to make it accurate but some of the shaping came out kinda odd. But I think it works :3 The clasp was a lucky find on Ebay. :)
The blouse was made from an Oxford cotton material and it has some embroidery stitching on the front. It zips up in the front and is painted on the cuffs in that motif she has in the parks. The corset was bought and edited. I painted the rosemaling on the front and added shoulder sleeves and accented the shoulder sleeves with some gold trim and some black lace to match the corset. The corset itself was trimmed with a gold roping XD
The boots were bought from a store in Vegas. They were later heavily sequined and accented with an A in the back of them like how the parks Anna does. :) I painted the soles of them with plain fabric paint
-Pictures to come soon during the premiere along with my Elsa and possibly Kristoff-

Making the Hat (Posted 20th December 2013)
Im really in no rush to get this hat done, but I figured I might as well make it for ALA.
Almost there guys!!! :DDD (Posted 17th November 2013)
Okay so I just finished the blouse and the cape today.
Ughhh I'm so excited I can barely breathe!!
Almost there :) (Posted 10th November 2013)
The cape is almost done. All I need now is the collar and maybe to adjust the clasps once the collar's in place, but it looks pretty good I'd say :) The skirt's all done and it fits a lot better now and all I gotta do now is the blouse and adjust the corset then Anna's done :)
Cape Progress (Posted 4th November 2013)
Just finished painting the fleece for the long part of my cape :)
Materials are Coming in Slowly :D (Posted 1st November 2013)
So far I just got my material for my Cape and my clasp :) The clasp is a little bit on the small side but it's the perfect shape and I love it so much. The cape fleece is the exact color of the Disney Parks Anna and I literally started squealing. XD I also got my pattern for the blouse Now to wait for the oxford to get here then....she will begin :)
Skirt Progress (Posted 26th October 2013)
So the skirt is finally almost done. I haven't been able to work on Anna recently because of my little commissions but I actually like how it looks so far. I still have to finish up the underskirt for this then I have to adjust the fitting so that it goes over my hips to put it on ToT
I just have to take in the seam allowance on the hips, then but the waistband on. Oh and add the scalloped lace and sequin trim on the underskirt hem
Finally started on the Skirt (Posted 23rd September 2013)
Oh gosh!! :DD It's finally happening
Anna is finally in the works. I just started her skirt. Most of the panels are cut and the scallops are all sewn in but I'm still painting the rosemaling to all the panels. I'm even adding little tiny rhinestones in the rosemaling to give the dress a little bit of a princess feel. Luckily I'm using stencils this time around so the result looks a lot cleaner than when I did Rapunzel :3
Corset (Posted 26th May 2013)
The Corset for Anna's costume looks more similar to how Rapunzel's is styled. But since I'm wearing the cape over the close for the most part you probably won't see much of the shoulders, so I'm going to cheat ;DD
I found this really pretty corset with rhinestones in it. All I'd need to do is just paint the floral embroidery on the center.
