|My sister, Mungojerrie, wanted to be Simba for Winter Memorabilia 2012, and as I was going with her and had no costume plans of my own, I said I'd be someone else from The Lion King with her. Nala has always been my favourite character in the movie, so after finding some fabric I was happy with, she became my choice.|
Making two kigurumis in one week (with matching boots!) wasn't exactly stressful sewing, but finding the time to do so inbetween my work hours was. We ended up splitting the work between us as the costumes progressed - after I sewed the bulk of the costumes, I passed them over to my sister for her to sew on the buttons. She also bought boots for both of us to use as bases, and after I made bootcovers I passed them on to her to attach.
The end result was one I think we were both pretty happy with, although we only wore Simba and Nala for three, maybe four hours tops, before deciding we'd had enough; we were too warm and uncomfortable, so we changed out of them and enjoyed the rest of the day in our civvies. I don't think we'll be wearing these to any events again, but they'll be fun to lounge around the house in!
