Great costume and very disturbing – I always found these original nurses much creepier than the newer bobble head nurses.

Thank you, she's been on my dream costumes list for about 4 years so I'm glad you think it's good. :D

Fake Blood (Posted 23rd March 2014)

As I am unable to use shop-bought fake blood because of the corn/maize syrup & food colouring, I made my own with golden syrup & mineral make-up.

Knife Progress (Posted 23rd March 2014)

Again, done at the same time as the rest of the costume. I just bought a cheap Halloween scare knife then made it bloodier.

Gore Progress Part 2 (Posted 23rd March 2014)

The bloodening! It all went straight back on the line to finish drying.

Gore Progress (Posted 23rd March 2014)

I gored up the whole costume at the same time.

Staining Progress Part 2 (Posted 23rd March 2014)

The next day I took them out and hung them on the line to drip dry a little bit before applying gore.

Staining Progress (Posted 23rd March 2014)

Then it was time to stain the whites with decaff coffee (since I can't tolerate caffine or the smell thereof anymore). I filled a basin & bucket with boiling water, added a couple of spoonfuls of coffee then left to soak overnight.

Nurse Hat Progress (Posted 23rd March 2014)

The hat, pre-gore.

Nurse Costume Progress (Posted 23rd March 2014)

Whilst I was waiting on the hump to dry before gore-fun-times I made the Nurse dress & hat, plus adapted the shoes slightly (cut out the elastic in them).

Hump Progress Part 4 (Posted 23rd March 2014)

After it had dried, I could go back outside with my delicious table of tricks. mostly acrylic ink, decaff coffee, directions hair dye & liquid latex. Yum.

Hump Progress Part 3 (Posted 23rd March 2014)

The Latexening!

Hump Progress Part 2 (Posted 23rd March 2014)

The next step was to get all my tools together to make a truly gory puppet hump. First was several layers of over-thickened liquid latex, which I then had to leave to dry overnight.

Hump Progress Part 1 (Posted 23rd March 2014)

Better late than never to post these progress shots. The hump base was made out of wadding & old tights in fleshtones.

Pattern Refs. (Posted 23rd March 2014)

These are the patterns I used/adapted to make this costume.
