|Time Taken :||So very long...|
|Going through all the Soul Caliber 4 characters, I saw so many I wanted to cosplay! But I decided on Ashlotte because it's such a wonderfully unique design! |
Everything ended up going okay, as a whole. There's a few things I need to improve for may expo, and kitacon had too many narrow corridors and doorways for me to wear it for long.
I ended up taking the wire skirt off, in the end, which had broken slighlty by the end of the weekend. That will have to be improved.
My glooves fell apart T_T But the craft foam itself stayed well. I think either superglue, or better base gloves that aren't painted gold would be better.
A lot of people said how wonderful my costume was though - i didn't get many pictures taken, probably because I wasn't wearing it as a whole for very long, but expo can be for camwhoring. I'll be happier with it then, anyway.
Complete for Kitacon ^^ (Posted 21st April 2009)
I managed to finish everything in time for kitacon, minus a few details.
I need to make some serious improvements before may expo. Kitacon just wasn't laid out well enough for me to wear this costume for a long period of time. I got a few good pictures taken, I think.
The wire dress xD Was such a stupid idea! I couldn't sit down, and it bent, and skewered people because I hadn't put the pendants on the ends. I'll probably replace parts of it with something much more flexible. Like ribbon or er...ribbon.
The gloves I bought as a base for the armour were so lame - the paint started coming off with the hot glue, and they wouldn't stay up! So they kept falling apart. I also think I need something to cover my upper arm with, as in all the photos, it looks a bit odd ^^;
My prop was greaaat, thanks to kitty, but a little bit bigger than I'm used to prop-wise. I'll get used to it though!
The makings of a wig (Posted 11th April 2009)
Right, so my wig never came. So i ordered 5 packs of extensions at £1.99 each and paid £6.70 for next day delivery.
Then i realised 5 is probably a bit too many.
But anyway, i now have 2 102cm lenghts of hair drying straight on my curtain rail, and two ringlets, and a fringe that was initially much thicker than it is now.
I'm using hot glue to create a sealant, but it's not sticking as well as I thought it would ^^; so chunks keep coming out. But it's a working progress!
My main dress is done. Just bolts left to paint on, and hooks to attatch it to the wire dress. Oh and some poppers for the heart.
The head part...will be done at some point. i'm working on the arms at the moment.
'Scuse my head in the wighead picture xD
THE END IS NIGH (Posted 26th March 2009)
So the main dress is almost complete. I need to find a little wire hoop to attatch the straps, and add the details, such as the heart and the bolts, but then it's totally finished.
I bought some gold gloves as the base for the arm armour, and some really pretty luminescent white facepaint off amazon x3. My wig is also on it's way, then i can start creating the head piece.
The wire dress has basically been sitting in a corner of my room for the last month or so. But I'll be ready to attatch that soon! Luckily, but also not so, my best local fabric store was closing down, so I got a whole load of poppers for half price for the little...strap..things.
I really need to get this costume done if I want to have two for Kitacon though >.< Nights is still nothing more than a pile of material sitting patiently by my radiator.
Pictures kinda soon! I took a couple of the wire but it was really unclear O.O
DRESS! (Posted 8th March 2009)
Urgh i had SO MUCH STUPID TROUBLE with the white dress. I think it was laziness, but it took me about 2 weeks to make. I made the top part too small, then I made the skirt wrong. And the sleeves still aren't accurate but they still look nice. And now i've got a month to make the rest ^^ And...two other costumes *dies*
Wire skirt! (Posted 13th February 2009)
I've started making the wire skirt. I had a whole kafuffle with figuring out how to stop the wire from twisting everywhere...when i figured out that OF COURSE one wire attatched to the circle and nothing else is gonna twist. When it's attatched to everything else, we have no problem! Some of the wire's pretty wobbly too so I'll have to keep constantly bending it until it's all straight.
So yeah. Working progress! I'll take a picture when it's all finished. Which could be tomorrow :OOOO
Must order my wig soon. I also made both the elbow pieces, but they need finishing. i had a bit of an accident with a knife and one of them, but it's not visable >.>
ARGH (Posted 10th February 2009)
Got all my material now.
the shiny stuff didn't turn out quite like I wanted, but with a bit of shoe polish, it seems it'll be okay.
I also hate sewing satin. That is all.
