Chell's Jumpsuit/Overall

Costume Information

Cost : Will be about £5 for the jumpsuit
Time Taken : Few Hours Research and a few days sewing.

Chell from Portal; the girl with the portal gun.

The easiest part of this costume had to be finding the orange overall jumpsuit thing to become the main part of the costume, just need to buy it first. I did have problems getting the right size and material ><;

This costume has no shoes, I was thinking of buying some clear shoes to wear 'cuz I don't really want to walk around the London Expo barefoot! XD

The little feet things should be easy enough to make, maybe out of foam or something XD

The hardest part will be the portal gun, which I don't think I will be able to make myself...

New note: I didn't finish this for Expo, so I'm going to wear this for Fuyucon 09!

If you bought your boiler suit from the same ebay seller I did, then yes, it's going to be ENORMOUS. Have fun taking it in!

How are you planning to do the leg supports, by the way?

Thanks XD & I'm not sure how I'm going to do the leg supports just yet... maybe from foam or something.

Best of luck with this - it's always great to see another Chell cosplay (I've been considering it myself =p).
If you're going to make the portal gun yourself, have you considered sheets of foam and a carboard tube? The right paint will make it look realistic depite the materials.
Good luck with it all ^_^

Thanks :3 & I say go for it, Chell is so awesome :D

Yeah I was thinking of using foam (seen a really awesome portal gun using florists foam, though I could never make anything like theirs!, but not the cardboard tube hmm... *makes a note* thanks for the suggestion ^^

Hopefully should get some good sealant (or PVA glue possibly) or use acryllic paints since they're nice thick colours and waterproof, I think theres special acryllic paint for that kind of stuff...

Thanks again & good luck with your costumes ^^ x

It has taken me 8 months... (Posted 25th August 2009) actually start on the costume lmao. I didn't wear it for May Expo, so I'm going to wear it for Fuyucon. It's all finished now, minus the leg supports. I don't have a camera on me so I can't take any pictures. However, the main part of the costume is FINISHED! I actually managed to finish something for once :D!!

Looks like I might not be wearing this anymore... (Posted 17th January 2009)

Well, you see however much I love Chell, her costume is kinda impractical (being barefoot) and I know I can easily buy some sandals or something but it's not only that. I'd rather match at least 1 person who i'm with at the expo and since my boyfriend is going as Travis Touchdown, I thought I could go as Sylvia Christel (since I have practically all of her outfit anyway o-o;) or Bad Girl 'cause her dress is so cute ^^

So yeah, I'll be finishing the costume as I don't want to leave it half-finished because that would be a waste... I'm going to bring the costume with me anyway, maybe minus a portal gun and plus a plushie cake or weighted companion cube. :D

Its verrry orange... (Posted 8th January 2009)

Receieved the overall/boiler suit today, 4 days after the eBay aution ended! I actually tried it on (over my clothes) and it's not too big (though I was wearing stuff underneath, so that probably means its bigger than I think XD). Soooo getting it early means I might be able to work on it a bit this weekend, 'cuz otherwise I'm never going to get round to it XD. Also, it smells dusty :D

I should take a before picture...
