|Time Taken :||6 months of work and a year of planning/break|
|I started this costume last year and it just was a pain in the arse. The worst part has to be the belt section since that took forever. I made the corset from a tutorial i found on cosplay.com. It's completely steel boned with 3 layers: 2 layers of canvas and 1 layer of microsuede (top layer).|
The skirt/dress/sleeves are all microsuede as well but i just used the back of the microsuede. This is only my second real cosplay for myself and it's such a huge costume to tackle.
I spent hours doing the details. They were all done by hand with quilter pencils, paint markers, and fabric paint. I made stencils for half of the design since all of Lulu's designs are mirror images. this way i wasnt drawing out the same design twice and not having things match. I'm pretty much down to adding a few belts in a couple spots on the belt skirt (mainly at the top and one on my right side), buying the wig, and getting my garterbelt/stockings.
Got some new photos up and have a few things to add/fix on the costume (Posted 20th November 2012)
I still need a garterbelt (got the stockings), i need to put belts on the arms, and get my ears pierced. I've never had my ears pierced so FOR COSPLAY :D lol.
Photoshoot within the next week or two. (Posted 10th November 2012)
I'm so excited you guys! My friend's gonna take some pictures of me in the whole getup lol. I ordered my wig Nov 1st, it's been shipped as of monday Nov 5th, so it should be here sometime this next week. I have to put the beading in the braids along with a couple small things but i'm really hoping to get some nice photos up :3
Velcro done :D! (Posted 18th August 2012)
I actually had to do a bit of zip tie work after the velcro was on. I'd like to thank my father in law and my husband for helping with putting in Rivets. Yes...rivets. Unfortunately we didnt have the rivet washers so a few rivets came out. I then added some zip ties near the rivets to help hold down the velcro and that actually worked out just fine ^^. Prior to figuring this out we actually broke the rivet gun. My father in law ended up having a steel rivet in with his aluminum rivets so yea...it kinda broke the gun he bought xD. I felt bad too lol. I was like GDI >< We were two rivets away from finishing. I got home and found the zip ties a couple days later. This pic is from before i put the zip ties on..but that little puckering you see is just from how it was sitting on the velcro. When the dress/skirt part was on me, i had my husband help attach it to the belt skirt section. It worked so wonderfully ; ; brought tears to my eyes. I can walk around with NO ripping sounds from the velcro. I sat, jumped, twisted and all with no horrific ripping sounds. I used heavy duty velcro so that probably helped. I can almost pick up the belt skirt while lifting up on the dress section O.o it's like "Whoa...that's heavy duty". I also finished my Yevon plushie to boot. I pretty much have garterbelt/stockings, wig, and getting my ears pierced. Maybe picking up a cactaur in the end as well idk xD i'll see how that shit goes. I hope this looks ok @@
Costume Update for lulu (Posted 29th July 2012)
Well, i have some very good news :3 I am down to purchasing the wig, some velcro, and i need some black garterbelt/stocking. I know the things i'm purchasing..it's just actually doing so. I just bought the jewelry on thursday and i'm waiting for it to be shipped. Sure, i couldve made it but i have none of the materials to start making jewelry. It would also cost more for me to make it than to have it done already. I'm getting a "cheaper" wig than what i can afford since i need to save money for ACen. I really dont feel like bombing 200 bucks on a wig and then i have no spending cash for acen, you know? Anyways..I have alot of piddly little things to do with costume like: using some more fabric glue behind the details in spots (it'll help harden up the details so they're not so fragile), makeup, and some beads for the wig when i get it.
