Lucy (Fairytail) (Posted 3rd July 2012) Finally finished Lucy's shirt! I cheated slightly on this shirt by buying a fitted shirt for my friend from Primark. As she has a rather large bust, fitting the shirt to her was my problem as I don't have a mannequin or have her around enough to do the fitting. So we bought a size 16 shirt that fitted her. I picked a shirt that fits exactly around her bust with a collar, so a lot like Lucy's fitted shirt I wanted the shirt to fit around the bust perfectly and not hang loose. I sat and removed the sleeves of the shirt, then the buttons. Afterwards placed in an open ended zip (used white to match the fabric) Cut the blue fabric into pieces and made a couple metres of Bias. Sew the blue band just under the arms and around the body of the shirt, then I edged the collar, the bottom of the shirt with the same blue bias. Afterwards was just the two panels of blue bias down the front to cover the white zip. She's going to test wear it on Friday so fingers crossed that it fits perfectly! |

Lucy (Fairytail) Skirt (Posted 1st July 2012) Sat and made the pleated skirt for Lucy! Unfortunately two pieces of bad news regarding that. 1) Turns out the fabric my friend picked was not suitable for pleating, regardless how much I ironed it, it wouldn't hold the pleat. Oh well, it's slight enough that it works for Lucy. 2) I burned a part of the skirt! I was ironing the pleats with a very hot iron, willing it to hold it's shape but it just melted part of the fabric! Panicked, cut the piece off and had to reattach a spare part of the skirt and repleat. Pleating took an entire hour! It was my first time making a pleated skirt, hopefully next time it will be better. All that's left is the zip and waistband to be fitted, but that requires my friend to come over and try the skirt on. Hopefully it'll be next Friday! |
